- If the remote flashes an LED light, you're good to enter troubleshooting mode.

Simultaneously press the Rewind and Right buttons. Hold them down for at least three seconds. The Rewind button is represented by two left-pointing arrows, while the Right button is the right segment of the circular navigation button.

Press the Menu button. This button is symbolized by three horizontal lines.
- If the remote enters troubleshooting mode successfully, the LED will glow green.

Press any button. Watch the LED light change color to monitor progress.

Troubleshoot the problem. Each LED color indicates a different issue.
- Red (slow blink): replace the batteries
- Red (fast blink): reset the remote
- Orange: re-pair the remote
- White: Check if the Fire TV device is powered on and active
- Blue: restart your Fire TV device

Exit Troubleshooting mode. Once you're done, press and hold both the Play/Pause and Up buttons for three seconds to deactivate troubleshooting mode.
Resetting Your Remote

Unplug your Fire TV. Disconnect both the power cable and HDMI to completely turn it off, then wait at least 60 seconds.

Press the Left, Menu, and Back buttons together for 12 seconds. Left corresponds to the left quarter of the circular navigation button, Menu is represented by three horizontal lines, and Back is the left-facing arrow button.

Release the buttons. Wait for at least 5 seconds before moving on to the next step.

Remove the batteries. Open the back panel of the remote and gently take out the batteries.

Reconnect your Fire TV. Plug it back in and give it a moment to power up. When it turns on, a message will appear saying the remote isn't detected.

Reinsert the batteries into the remote. This will power the remote back on.

Press the Home button. This will pair the remote with your Fire TV. The LED on the remote should flash blue.
- If the remote still won't pair, press and hold the Home button for at least 10 seconds.
Replacing the Batteries

Insert fresh batteries into the remote. Open the back panel of the remote and swap out the old batteries with new ones. It's recommended to use freshly purchased batteries to ensure they are fully charged.
- If you’re sure the batteries are new, Cathey suggests checking "that they have a proper connection and that there is no corrosion or white powder on them."
Pairing Your Remote

Unplug the Fire Stick from its power source. You can also disconnect it from your TV to ensure it's not receiving power.

Take the batteries out of your Fire Stick remote. Both the Fire Stick and the remote should be completely disconnected from any power source.
- Wait for at least 30 seconds to ensure both devices have no remaining power.

Reconnect the Fire TV Stick to power and reinsert the batteries into your remote. Power on your Fire TV Stick and wait for the Home screen to appear.

Press and hold the Home button on the remote. Hold it for about 10 seconds or until the LED at the top of the remote begins to blink rapidly.
- If the remote still won't pair, repeat the previous steps.
Restarting Your Device

Disconnect the Fire TV Stick power cable. This is the cord plugged into the wall outlet. Simply unplugging the Fire TV Stick from your TV won't work; you need to disconnect the power cable or adapter.

Wait at least three seconds. For the best results, it's recommended to wait up to a few minutes.

Reconnect the power cable. After plugging the power cord back in, your Fire TV Stick will take a few moments to reboot. Once the home screen appears, you should be able to control your Fire TV Stick with the remote.
