How to Resolve Screen Flickering on Your Lenovo
Is your Lenovo screen flickering? Common culprits include outdated graphics drivers, system settings, or hardware faults. Fortunately, there are several ways to fix this. Here’s how to tackle screen flicker issues on your Lenovo Yoga.
Lenovo Screen Flicker: Quick Troubleshooting Tips
If your Lenovo Yoga screen is flickering or showing glitches, it might be a software conflict. Try turning off Panel Self Refresh and any power-saving graphics features. Updating your graphic drivers—and BIOS if needed—can also resolve the issue.
Fixing Steps
Turn Off Panel Self Refresh
Launch the Start menu. Click the icon or press the Windows key.
- This step may help eliminate screen flickering.
Enter intel graphics command center. Results will appear as you type.
Select the top result. This will open a new window.
Click System. It’s located in the left-hand menu.
Click Disable next to "Panel Self Refresh". This option is located under the Power section.
Adjusting Display Preferences
Access Settings. Click the Start menu, then select the gear icon.
Select System. It’s usually listed near the top.
Choose Display. This is located in the left-hand sidebar and may already be open by default.
Deselect "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes". You’ll find this option under the Brightness section.
Turning Off Power Saving Features
Launch the Control Panel. Open the Start menu, type “control panel,” and click the first result.
- This method works on select models like the Yoga 2 Pro, Yoga 720, and others using Intel Graphics.
Select Intel Graphics Control Panel. It should appear in the list below.
Click Power. If you can’t find this tab, your device might not support this method.
Select Power Usage. You might need to scroll to locate this option.
Deselect "Display power saving technology". This turns off the feature.
Updating Your Graphics Drivers
Launch Device Manager. Open the Start menu, type "device manager," and choose the top result.
- If you're experiencing screen flickering, your graphics drivers might be faulty. You can roll back, update, or uninstall them.
Expand Display adapters by clicking the arrow next to it.
Right-click your graphics card, then choose Properties. A new window will appear.
Navigate to the Driver tab at the top.
Select Update Driver. Alternatively, choose Roll Back Driver or Uninstall Device.
Removing Problematic Software
Go to the Start menu. If you've recently installed a new application, it might be the reason for the flickering. You can try updating it, or if issues persist, uninstall the app completely.
Search for add or remove programs. Suggestions will appear as you type.
Select the top result. A new window will launch.
Find and click the application you'd like to uninstall. Apps are listed alphabetically by default.
Press Uninstall twice. The removal process might take a few moments.
BIOS Update Procedure
