If you're a Costco member who enjoys the convenience of curbside pickup at other major stores, you may be wondering whether Costco offers this service as well. Unfortunately, Costco does not currently offer curbside pickup on their own, but you can use Instacart to place an order at Costco and have it ready for curbside pickup. Costco also provides in-store pickup for certain items like electronics and jewelry, as well as same-day and 2-day delivery for groceries. Is curbside pickup available at Costco?
Costco does not offer a nationwide curbside pickup service. However, they provide in-store pickup for items like laptops, smartphones, and jewelry when ordered online. Alternatively, you can use Instacart for curbside pickup from Costco or opt for same-day delivery through Costco’s website or mobile app.
Procedure
Does Costco provide curbside or in-store pickup?
Costco does not offer curbside pickup, but certain items are available for in-store pickup. Unlike popular retailers like Target, Walmart, and Sam's Club, Costco doesn't provide curbside pickup for its members. However, there's a workaround: customers can place orders through Instacart and choose curbside pickup. Check out our guide on this process here.
- Costco also offers in-store pickup at their warehouses for Costco members (but you should call your local warehouse to confirm availability).
- Items eligible for in-store pickup include laptops, tablets, smartwatches, mobile phones, hard drives, earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and watches. Learn more about how to use the in-store pickup service below!
- Alternatively, Costco provides same-day or 2-day grocery delivery for online orders. If you're okay with having groceries delivered to your doorstep, follow these steps to schedule a delivery.
How to Use Instacart for Curbside Pickup at Costco
Sign in to the Instacart app and search for Costco. Open the Instacart app, log into your account, and search for Costco at the top of the page.
- Note: You don't need a Costco membership to order from Instacart.
- Alternatively, you can place your order on Instacart's website.
Choose “Pickup” and select your nearest Costco warehouse. Instacart provides both delivery and pickup options. Simply choose “Pickup” when prompted, then pick the Costco warehouse you want to collect your order from on the map.
- Note: Warehouses that offer pickup will display “Pickup” next to their name. If your local Costco doesn’t show “Pickup,” it isn’t available. But don't worry—you can still order for delivery!
Shop for items, choose a pickup time, and place your order. Browse for products at the top of the page or by category (such as fruit or bread). After finishing your shopping, click the cart icon and select 'Go to Checkout.' Confirm the pickup location, select a time slot from the available options, then enter your payment details and click 'Place Order.'
- For each item you add, you can provide specific instructions for the shopper, like requesting unripe bananas instead of ripe ones.
- Note: A minimum spend of $10 is required to qualify for pickup (or delivery). Instacart also adds a pickup fee and a service fee to your total.
Wait for a notification when your order is ready. On the order screen, you can track the progress of the Instacart shopper as they gather your items from Costco. Once they've completed shopping, a notification will pop up on your screen indicating that your order is ready for pickup.
- If you have notifications enabled for Instacart, you will also receive a push notification on your app once your order is ready.
Follow the pickup instructions and confirm your arrival at the store. Tap 'Pickup details' to review the specific instructions for collecting your order. For curbside pickup, your Costco location may ask you to park in a designated spot. When you arrive at the store, tap 'I have arrived,' and an employee will bring your order out to you shortly.
- Tap 'Add your vehicle' on the order page to describe your car, so the employee knows what to look for.
- In some cases, there may not be an employee available to bring your items to your car. If this happens, the order page will update with instructions to pick up your items inside the store.
How to Order Items for In-Store Pickup at Costco
Go to Costco’s pickup page and choose an item category. Visit Costco’s website and navigate to their warehouse pickup page. Then, select the category that matches the items you're looking to purchase.
- For example, if you're shopping for laptops, click on 'Laptops.'
Choose an item and verify its eligibility for warehouse pickup. Once you've selected the item you want, click on it to open its product page. Look for the option “Ship to Warehouse” on the right side, just below the “Add to Cart” button.
- If you wish to pick up the item from a different warehouse than your local Costco, click on “Check Nearby Warehouses” and enter the new location.
- If you can't find the “Ship to Warehouse” option, it means the item is not eligible for warehouse pickup.
Complete your purchase and await an email confirming it’s ready for pickup. Add the item to your cart and proceed to checkout. Afterward, simply wait for Costco to send you an email confirming that your item is ready for pickup at your local warehouse.
- Costco will provide an estimated pickup date on the product page when you check out.
- Warehouse pickup is available exclusively for Costco members, so make sure to log into your account to complete the purchase.
Go to the pickup counter to retrieve your order. Once your item is ready, head to the Costco where your item was shipped and find the merchandise pickup counter. Show your Costco membership ID, a photo ID, and the order confirmation email to collect your item.
- Note: Only the person whose name is on the payment card used to purchase the item is authorized to pick it up in-store.
How to Order Same-Day or 2-Day Delivery from Costco
Visit the Costco app or website and set your delivery location. Open the Costco app or go to the website. At the top of the page, select your local Costco warehouse and input your desired delivery location.
- Note: A Costco membership is required to place orders for delivery from the app or website.
Choose between same-day or 2-day delivery options. For grocery and household products, Costco provides two delivery choices: same-day (powered by Instacart) and 2-day delivery. Select same-day delivery if you need perishable goods, as 2-day delivery is available for non-perishable items only.
- In the app: Tap “Shop” and choose “Grocery, Household Essentials & Pet.” Then, pick either “Same-Day Delivery” or “2-Day Delivery.”
- On the website: Visit the Same-Day Delivery page or the 2-Day Delivery page.
- Note: A minimum order of $35 is required for same-day delivery, and Instacart’s delivery and service fees will apply. For 2-day delivery, the delivery fee is waived for orders over $75.
Add items to your cart, choose your delivery time, and complete the checkout. Browse for the items you want and add them to your cart. For same-day delivery, select a 2-hour delivery window for either the current day, the next day, or any other day that suits you. Then, enter your delivery and payment details and finalize your order.
- For 2-day delivery, orders placed by noon on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday will be delivered within 2 days. However, Costco doesn’t deliver on weekends, so any orders placed from Thursday to Sunday will be delivered on Monday or Tuesday.
Receive your items once they’ve been delivered to your address. If you chose same-day delivery, you can track your order’s progress on the order page to see when it arrives at your door. For 2-day delivery, you’ll receive an email from Costco notifying you that your package is on its way to be delivered.
