This guide will show you the correct technique for using an airsoft high-capacity magazine.
Instructions

Fill the magazine with BBs. Open the trap door, usually located at the top of the magazine, and carefully pour high-quality BBs inside. Be mindful not to overfill, as this could cause a jam. Close the trap door securely when done.

Load BBs into the feeding chamber. Turn the winding wheel at the bottom of the magazine and continue until you hear a distinct sound, indicating how many additional rotations are needed. Wind the wheel three more turns to apply pressure, ensuring the BBs feed properly into the airsoft gun rather than falling back into the magazine due to gravity.

Insert the magazine into the airsoft gun and start shooting!

Reload the magazine. When BBs stop coming out of the barrel and your airsoft gun continues to dry-fire, repeat the previous steps to reload.

Refill the magazine. Simply repeat the first step to refill your magazine.
-
High-capacity magazines are prone to jamming. To clear a jam, use the unjamming rod (usually found with your airsoft kit) and insert the angled end into the loading chamber (the circular hole where the BBs exit the mag). While pressing the release button next to the hole, remove the rod. BBs will eject rapidly; don’t worry, this is normal. Losing a few BBs is better than dealing with a jammed magazine.
-
Handle your magazine with care, as high-cap magazines are delicate and can be costly to replace.
-
Some high-cap mags can prematurely spool before locking in fully, leading to misfeeding or jamming. To prevent this, load the magazine quickly and firmly, making sure the clip lock is out of the way.
Cautions
- Always opt for high-quality BBs. Avoid those cheap ones you might find at general sporting goods stores. These low-grade BBs can break under spring pressure, leading to jams. Spending an extra $5-$10 on quality BBs will save you from breaking your gun in the long run.
- Don't overfill your magazine with BBs. This can cause the BBs to spill into the loading chamber when you close the trap door, potentially damaging the magazine permanently.
- Unfortunately, biodegradable BBs tend to snap under the spring pressure in high-capacity mags, leading to jams. While bio BBs are better for the environment (no piles of white pellets left in your yard after years of airsoft), it’s generally advised not to use them in high-cap mags.
