Learn which words could get you banned on Roblox
Roblox has rolled out an update that allows swearing in specific 17+ games. However, this doesn’t mean you’re free to use any language you like without consequences. Here’s the essential info on how swearing works in 17+ Roblox games.
Is Cussing Allowed in Roblox Games?
Swearing is only permitted in certain 17+ Experiences that have enabled strong language. It cannot be aimed at other users or used for bullying or harassment. Feel free to express yourself with strong language, but only in appropriate situations, like after a jump scare.
How to Use Strong Language Safely
Is Cussing Allowed in Roblox 17+ Games?

Strong language is permitted only under certain conditions. In a 17+ experience that has activated strong language, swearing is okay as long as it’s not aimed at other players. For instance, it's fine to swear after falling off the map. However, using profanity to bully or harass other players is strictly prohibited.
- In all non-17+ experiences, swearing is not allowed and could result in a ban.
How to Verify for 17+

Visit https://www.roblox.com/ through a web browser. Whether you’re on a mobile or desktop browser, make sure you have a device with a camera to begin the verification process.
- You will need a valid ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or ID card, to proceed.

Go to the Settings page. You can access it by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of your screen.

Click on Account Info
. It's located in the panel on the left side.

Click on Verify My Age. This option is located under the Personal section. Ensure that your birthdate is accurate.
- A pop-up will appear for verification.

Scan the QR code. Use the camera from your mobile device for this step.

Click on Start verification. This will initiate the process.

Follow the on-screen prompts. You'll need to grant access to your camera.
- Scan your ID card.
- Take a selfie.
- Wait for approval.
- Once the verification is complete, you’ll see a result: pass or fail. If successful, your account will update shortly. Be sure to refresh your page or restart the app to see the changes.
How to Find 17+ Experiences

Click on Experiences. On mobile, you’ll find this at the bottom of the screen. On desktop, it’s at the top.

Type a search term. Use the magnifying glass icon or search box to enter keywords for the kind of experience you want to play. You can also select a category to browse through popular options.

Look for the Contains strong language label. This label will appear beneath the Experience title, next to Ages 17+. If you spot this tag, it means the creator has enabled strong language, and you can use strong language (within the guidelines) without worrying about being banned.
How to Appeal a Ban

Visit https://www.roblox.com/support using a web browser. If you're not logged in, you’ll be asked to manually provide some details.
- If you believe you’ve been wrongfully banned from Roblox, you can submit an appeal as long as it's within 30 days of the ban.

Enter your date of birth and click Next. Use the drop-down menu to enter your birthdate now.

Provide your account username and email address. If you are not logged in, you'll need to supply these details so Roblox can contact you for further communication.

Provide the reason for your appeal. Under the Issue Details section, select your platform. For the type of help, choose Moderation, then Appeal Account.
- Use the description field to briefly explain why you think your account should be reinstated.

Click Submit. This will send your appeal directly to the Roblox support team. You should receive a response within 24 to 48 hours.
