If you're wondering how to leave a Discord server, you've come to the right place. How to Exit a Server on Discord
To exit a Discord server, simply click on the server name and select Leave Server. If you are the server owner, you will need to transfer ownership first before leaving. To do this, go to Server Settings > Members, click the three-dot menu next to the user you want to make the new owner, and choose Transfer Ownership.

Exiting a Server on Desktop/Web
Click on the server name in the top-left corner. This will open the server menu. Ensure you've selected the correct server that you wish to exit from.
Click Leave Server. This is the option highlighted in red text at the bottom of the server menu.
Click Leave Server again. Discord will prompt you to confirm if you're sure you want to leave. Click the red Leave Server button to confirm your decision, or click Cancel if you change your mind.
Exiting a Server on Mobile
Click on the server name located at the top of your screen. This will reveal the server menu. Make sure you've selected the server you intend to leave.
Tap Leave Server. This option appears in red text at the bottom of the menu. You might need to scroll to locate it.
Tap Yes to confirm. Discord will prompt you to confirm your choice to leave the server. Tap the red Yes button to confirm, or click No if you change your mind.
Transferring Server Ownership
Go to your server settings and select the Members section. To do this, click or tap on the server's name, go to Server Settings, and choose Members under "User Management." It's located at the bottom of the settings menu.
- If you're the server owner, you must transfer ownership to another user before leaving.
Click or tap the three-dot icon next to the user you wish to transfer ownership to. This will display the "More Options" menu for that member.

- Once you've completed the transfer, you can leave the server by tapping or clicking the server's name and selecting Leave Server.
- If you're the only member in a server and want to leave, you can delete the server instead. To do so, open Server Settings, scroll down, and click on Delete Server. However, be aware that a deleted server cannot be recovered, so make sure it's your final choice.
Is it possible to leave a server without anyone noticing?
The only way to exit a server unnoticed is to abandon your account entirely. While there are many factors that may affect how noticeable your departure is, there’s no guaranteed way to leave a server without being seen. If the server is large and you weren't very active, it’s less likely that anyone will notice, but in a smaller server where you frequently interacted, your absence will likely be obvious.

- You no longer appear in the member list
- You stop participating in conversations
- The audit log reveals to admins that you’ve left
- The server uses a bot that notifies members when someone leaves
- There may be a bot that logs your exit in a separate channel visible to admins
- If you want to truly leave without being noticed, the only solution is to stop using your account. Although users may still notice your absence, there won't be any audit trails or bot messages indicating that you left.
What happens if I rejoin a server I’ve left?
Upon rejoining, Discord will mostly treat you as a new member. You'll enter the server without any roles (unless there's a default role for newcomers) and your join date will be updated. However, any messages you previously sent, which remain in the server, will be linked back to your account again.
