Ever wish you could repost TikToks without your followers knowing? You're not the only one! While TikTok doesn't officially support a "silent repost" feature, you can still save videos to a special collection titled "Silent Reposts." In this guide, we'll break down how it works and how you can add TikToks to this collection without making them visible to your audience.
How Silent Reposting Works on TikTok
Although TikTok doesn't offer a true silent repost option, you can save videos to a collection named "Silent Reposts" on your profile. To do this, tap the bookmark icon on the video, go to "Manage" > "Create a new collection," name it "Silent Reposts," make it public, and then hit "Save."

What Does Silent Repost Mean?
"Silent repost" refers to when you find a TikTok post that resonates with you but you're too shy to actually repost it. It's not an official feature of TikTok, but rather a phrase or hashtag people use (either "silent repost" or "#silentrepost") when they feel a video is funny, relatable, or appealing, and they wish they could repost it, but don't want to have it appear in their followers' feeds.
Is Silent Reposting Possible on TikTok?
No, you can't repost a TikTok without your followers knowing. While some TikTok users claim there's a way to do silent reposts, that's not actually the case. However, there are a few workarounds!
- One way is to comment "silent repost" or use the hashtag #silentrepost to express your connection with the video and your desire to repost it. If you're trying to support the creator, this is your best bet!
- Another option is to create a favorites collection titled "silent repost" and add the TikToks you’d like to repost there.
- You can choose to make the collection public so others can see it on your profile, but the videos won’t appear in your followers’ feeds as reposts. Anyone visiting your profile will see that you appreciate the videos.
- If you prefer privacy, you can keep the collection hidden from everyone but yourself.
How to Create a Silent Repost Collection
Tap the bookmark icon on a video. While this won't technically repost the video, whether silently or not, it's a handy way to keep track of all the TikToks you'd love to repost, and you can even link them to your profile for easy access.
Tap Manage on the pop-up. This option appears at the bottom of the video after you've tapped the bookmark icon.
Tap Create a new collection. You'll also see your existing collections here.
- When you're ready to add more silent repost videos, just tap on the Silent Repost collection to add them.
Give your collection the name silent reposts. You can choose any name you like, but this one keeps things simple and clear.
- Don't worry too much about the name—although you may have seen TikToks claiming that adding videos to a "silent reposts" folder will automatically repost them, that's unfortunately not the case.
Decide whether you want your silent reposts to be public or private. If you'd rather keep the videos hidden, simply switch the toggle to "Off." If you're comfortable with others seeing the videos you'd have reposted, switch it to "On."
Tap Save. This will save your Silent Reposts folder and add the video you’ve selected.
- To add more TikToks later, simply tap the bookmark icon, select Manage, and then choose silent reposts.
- Now, people can visit your profile, tap the bookmark icon, and explore your silent reposts collection!
