When you use Internet Explorer, your browsing history is automatically recorded. This helps users easily locate previously visited websites or auto-complete addresses as you begin typing. You can view the browsing history either in Internet Explorer itself or through the File Explorer application. The process of checking the browsing history in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 is quite similar.
Steps
Using Internet Explorer 7+

Click on the star icon located at the top right corner of the window. This action opens the Favorites sidebar. You can also press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H to instantly open the History tab in the Favorites sidebar.
- On Internet Explorer 7 and 8, the Favorites button is positioned to the left of the Bookmarks bar.
- If you're using a Windows 8 tablet with the Modern interface of Internet Explorer 11, you will need to open the Desktop view of Internet Explorer to see the browsing history. The only way to view browsing history in the Modern environment is through the suggested pages that appear when you start typing an address. You can quickly switch to the Desktop mode by clicking the wrench icon and selecting "View on the desktop".

Click on the "History" tab. This feature will be selected by default if you press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H to open the sidebar.

Sort the results as you wish. By default, browsing history is sorted by time. You can use the dropdown menu at the top of the sidebar to arrange the history by website name, most visited pages, pages visited on the same day, or search your browsing history by entering search criteria.

Click on a result to open or expand it. Depending on your sorting preferences, the history will be organized into a list. When you click on one of these items, links to specific pages will appear. For example, if you're sorting by website, clicking on a homepage link will show all the pages you visited from that homepage.

Search for a website using the "Search History" option. Select "Search History" from the dropdown menu to look for specific websites or pages you've previously visited.

Add bookmarks from saved history. You can add any page from your browsing history to your favorites list by right-clicking on the link in the history and selecting "Add To favorites". A dialog box will appear, allowing you to name the bookmark and choose where to save it.

Delete a record by clicking or tapping the "X" next to it. You can delete individual links or clear the entire time range.
- You can also click or tap the option "Clear all history". Ensure that the "Browsing history" tab is selected, then click "Clear".
Open the History folder

Open the Run window. You can find it in the Start menu or press the shortcut ⊞ Win+R.

Type shell:history and press ↵ Enter. The current user's History folder will open.
- You cannot access another user's History folder, even if you are logged in as an administrator.

Select the date range for the history you want to view. The History folder contains four subfolders: 3 Weeks Ago, 2 Weeks Ago, Last Week, and Today. History older than 3 weeks will be in the "3 Weeks Ago" folder.

Choose the website folder you'd like to open. All the paths in your history are sorted by website. Each folder holds the links to specific pages you have visited.

Double-click to open it. The link will load in your default browser, which may not be Internet Explorer.

Add a link to your bookmarks. Right-click a link in the folder and select "Add To Favorites" to add it to your Bookmarks list. A dialog will appear allowing you to set a title and storage location for the bookmark.
Delete history. You can remove history by deleting files in Windows. Right-click a link and choose "Delete", or select multiple links to delete them. You can also drag and drop links into the Recycle Bin or another location.
