Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of activating Microsoft Office on both PC and Mac. If you’ve subscribed to Office 365, there's no need to activate it—just log in with your Microsoft account. However, if you purchased a retail version of Microsoft Office, you'll need the 25-character product key included in the packaging. Use this key to activate Office via the app or Office website.
Steps
Using a Microsoft Account

Click on the Office product. Select an Office product like Word or Excel to launch the application.
- If Office is not installed on your computer, you can download it from the website.
Click on Activate (Activate). This option is located beneath the key icon.
Click on Sign In (Sign In) under the "Activate" option.
Sign in with your Microsoft account. Enter the email address and password associated with your Microsoft account.
Follow the on-screen instructions and click Next (Next). The activation process will be completed.
- If your account has exceeded the maximum number of installations for a subscription, you may need to deactivate the installation on another device.
Enter the product key in the Office app
Click on the Office product. Select a product like Word or Excel to launch the program.
- If you have a product key but haven't installed Microsoft Office on your computer yet, open the Office website.
Click on Activate located beneath the key icon.
Click on Enter Product Key under the "Activate" section.
Enter the product key and click Continue. Enter the 25-character product key without dashes.
Click on Redeem Online under the "Add this key to an account" section.
Click on Sign In or Create a new account (Create a new account). If you already have a Microsoft account, sign in using the associated email and password. If you don’t have a Microsoft account, click on "Create a new account" and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new account.
Click on Finish Activation (Complete the activation process). This will finalize the activation, and the product key will be linked to your Microsoft account.
Enter the product key on the Office website
Access https://setup.office.com/ through your web browser. This site will help you activate and download Microsoft Office to your device.
Click on Sign In. This red button is located under the first step.
- If you don’t have a Microsoft account, click on "Create a new account". You’ll be asked to provide your name, email address, and create a password for your Microsoft account.
Sign in to Microsoft and click on Next (Proceed). Use the email and password linked to your Microsoft account.
Enter the 25-character product key into the provided field. The product key can be found on the card included with your Microsoft Office package or sometimes on your receipt.
Select your country or region and language, then click Next. Use the dropdown menu where you entered the product key to select the language and country/region. Once completed, click Next.
Check the box for Automatic Renewal (Auto-renewal) and click Next. Use the switch to enable or disable the auto-renewal feature. By default, this feature is enabled.
Fill in your credit card information and click Next. If you're using the auto-renewal feature, you will need to enter your credit card details. The card will automatically be charged when the activation period ends, and your Microsoft Office will need to be renewed.
Click on Next. You will be redirected to the Microsoft Account page where you can download Microsoft Office.
Click on Install (Setup). This option is located below the first section, which displays the number of installations available. You will be taken to the installation details page.
