This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to add movies to your iPad. You can achieve this by purchasing movies directly through iTunes on your iPad, importing existing movies using iTunes on your computer, or downloading movies stored on iCloud Drive.
Steps
Purchase on iTunes

Open the iTunes Store on your iPad. The app features a bright purple icon with a white musical note. You can find it on your Home Screen.
- If you can't locate the iTunes Store app, swipe down from the middle of the screen and type "itunes store," then tap on the app when it appears.

Tap Search. The magnifying glass icon is located at the bottom of the screen.

Type the movie name into the "Search" bar, then tap Search. The "Search" bar is at the top of the screen, and the blue Search button is located at the bottom right of the keyboard.
- You may need to tap the "Search" bar first to bring up the iPad keyboard.

Tap the Movies tab. The tab is located just below the "Search" bar.

Tap on the movie you wish to purchase. This will open the movie's details page.

Tap BUY. The button is located to the right of the movie's cover art, with the price displayed next to it (e.g., $9.99 BUY).

Enter your Apple ID password if prompted. Once you input your Apple ID password, the video will begin downloading.
- Alternatively, you may be asked to scan your fingerprint if your iPad supports Touch ID.

Press the Home button on your iPad. This will minimize the iTunes Store app.
- Do not completely close the iTunes Store until the video has finished downloading.

Open the TV app on your iPad. The app features a black icon with a blue TV screen. You can find it on your Home Screen.

Tap the Library tab. The tab is located at the bottom of the screen. Your purchased movie will appear here once the download is complete.
Import from iTunes

Connect your iPad to your computer. Use the iPad charging cable to establish the connection.

Open iTunes on your computer. The iTunes icon features a white background with a multicolored musical note.
- Click Download iTunes if prompted. You may need to update and restart your computer before proceeding.

Click the Music tab. The tab is located at the top-left corner of the iTunes window, just above "Library" in the left-hand pane.
- If you're not logged into iTunes, first click the Account tab, select Sign In, and enter your Apple ID email and password.

Click Movies. The option is located in the dropdown menu below or above Music.

Click the Recently Added tab. The tab is located just below the Movies tab. Here, you'll see items purchased on iTunes from your computer.
- To add items purchased on iTunes to your iPad, simply right-click or Alt-click the item, select Add to Device, and choose your iPad's name.

Drag and drop the video into the iTunes window. This is the video you want to add to your iPad.

Click the Home Videos tab. This section is part of the dropdown menu from the Recently Added tab in the top-left corner of iTunes. Newly added movies will appear here.

Right-click or Alt-click the movie. This will bring up a dropdown menu.
- You can also use a two-finger click on the movie.

Select Add to Device. This option is located near the middle of the dropdown menu.

Click on your iPad's name. The device name might appear as "[Your Name]'s iPad."

Wait for iTunes to finish syncing the movie. You can monitor the progress by observing the blue bar at the top of the iTunes window.

Open the TV app on your iPad. The app icon features a blue TV screen on a black background. You can find it on your iPad's Home Screen.

Tap Library. The button is located at the bottom-left corner of the screen. Newly added movies will appear here.
Download from iCloud Drive

Visit the iCloud website. The site can be accessed at https://www.icloud.com/

Enter your Apple ID email and password. This is the information you use to log into iCloud on your iPad. Once entered, the iCloud page will open.

Click on iCloud Drive. The app features a white icon with a blue cloud symbol.

Drag and drop the video into the iCloud page. This is the video you want to add to your iPad. Dropping the video onto the page will initiate the upload process.
- If iCloud Drive doesn't have enough storage for the video, you'll need to delete some files or upgrade your iCloud storage plan.

Wait for the file to finish uploading. You'll see the text "Uploading..." below the file, along with a blue progress bar. Once the progress bar disappears, the file is saved in iCloud Drive.

Open iCloud Drive on your iPad. The app has a white icon with a blue cloud. If iCloud Drive isn't enabled on your iPad, follow these steps first.
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top of the page.
- Tap iCloud.
- Toggle iCloud Drive to "On".
- Locate iCloud Drive on your Home Screen.

Tap on the movie's name. This will open the movie's details page.


Tap the "Share" icon. The icon is an arrow located at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Tap Save Video. The option is near the bottom of the screen. Tapping it will prompt the movie to download to the iPad's Photos app.

Open the Photos app on your iPad. The app has a white icon with a multicolored pinwheel.
Tap Camera Roll. The option is located at the top-left corner of the screen. Your movie will be the most recent item here.
