All educational resources openly licensed under Creative Commons licenses require proper attribution to the authors. One of the few tools available to assist with such attribution is the Creative Commons open licensing tool.

Perform Attribution Using the Creative Commons Tool

Connect to the Internet and navigate to the address Creative Commons open licensing and attribution tool. The tool will appear.

Proceed with Open licensing for educational resources using the Creative Commons tool. Choose the license as Creative Commons Attribution – ShareAlike (CC BY-SA). If selected correctly, the icons will appear as shown in the image above.

In the ‘Help others attribute you’ section, click on the link ‘This part is optional, but filling it out will add machine-readable metadata to the suggested HTML!’ to open the attribution section in the Creative Commons licensing and attribution tool.

Enter the corresponding information into the fields as shown in the image, for example:

Enter the translated work's title from English to Vietnamese, such as: 'Open Educational Resources: Policies, Costs, and Transformations' in the ‘Title of work’ field.
Enter the author's name of the translated work in Vietnamese, such as: 'Translated by Lê Trung Nghĩa' in the ‘Attribute work to name’ field.
Enter the web address - URL, where the Vietnamese translation is hosted, for example, https://www.dropbox.com/s/rsweet9lr2j50i5/244365e-Vi-20072016.pdf?dl=0, in the ‘Attribute work to URL’ field.
Enter the web address - URL, where the original English version is hosted, for example, http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0024/002443/244365e.pdf, in the ‘Source work URL’ field.
Leave the ‘More permissions URL’ field blank - as there are no additional permissions in this specific case.
Open the ‘Format of work’ combo box and select, for example, ‘Text’ for the translated work in Vietnamese.
Keep the default value of ‘License mark’ unchanged.

Utilize Creative Commons Tools to Apply Open Licensing for Educational Resources

Adjust the Vietnamese text in your document to ensure proper display of the pasted content.

You will need to modify the text, for example, to the following:
Open Educational Resources: Policies, Costs, and Transformations translated by Lê Trung Nghĩa, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International.
Based on the original work available at http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0024/002443/244365e.pdf.

Tips

To enable automatic links when applying Creative Commons licenses and attributing creative works, you should use the Creative Commons open licensing tool or similar, even if you are already familiar with the specifics of Creative Commons licenses.

Warnings

For your document to be truly open licensed and qualify as Open Educational Resources (OER), it is better to host the document online in editable formats like HTML or XML, rather than non-editable formats such as .PDF files.
