Mytour will guide you through the process of downloading a compressed file containing all of your Gmail information to your computer. However, this action cannot be performed through the Gmail app on mobile devices.
Steps
Visit your Google Account page. All of your Google account settings and the information you need to back up are stored here.
- If you're not signed in to your Google account, click Sign in at the top right of the screen, enter your email address and password, and click Sign in.
Click on the Personal info & privacy or Personal information & security section located in the center of the page.
Click on Control your content or Kiểm soát nội dung của bạn. This option can be found in the left panel, under the section "Personal info & privacy".
Click on Create Archive or Tạo tệp lưu trữ. This option is located on the right side of the page, just below "Download your data" or "Tải xuống dữ liệu của bạn".
Next, select what you want to back up from your account. By default, all Google products linked to your account are already selected.
- If you don't want to download everything, at least make sure that "Mail" or "Thư" is selected before proceeding.
- You will see a downward arrow to the right of "All mail" or "Tất cả thư" – click on it, and you can choose to download all mail or only those emails with the labels you select.
Click the Next or Tiếp theo button located at the bottom of the screen.
Look at the "File type" or "Loại tệp" section near the top of the page, it should be set to ".zip".
- On most computers, we can easily open a ZIP file by double-clicking on it. ZIP files are also the file type that takes up the least space compared to other options in the "File type" dropdown.
Click on the box under "Archive size (max)" or "Kích thước tệp lưu trữ (tối đa)". A dropdown menu will appear with several different size options:
- 1GB
- 2GB
- 4GB
- 10GB
- 50GB
Select a size that you think is appropriate. Any data exceeding this size will be split into a new file.
- For example, if you set the maximum size to "4GB" and your backup file is 6GB, you will end up with two files: one 4GB file and one 2GB file after the upload.
Click on the box under "Delivery method" or "Cách phân phối". There are several ways you can receive your backup files:
- Send download link via email – A link to download the file will be sent to your current Gmail address. By clicking the link, the file will start downloading.
- Add to Drive – Save the file in Google Drive. The file will count towards your Google Drive storage quota.
- Add to Dropbox – The file will be saved to your connected Dropbox account (if you have one).
- Add to OneDrive – The file will be stored in your connected OneDrive account (if you have one).
Select a delivery method. You should base your decision on the maximum archive file size, as your backup file may be too large for the cloud storage options available to you.
Click on Create archive or Tạo tệp lưu trữ. At this point, your Gmail account will begin backing up to the selected file type.
- This process may take several hours (or even days), depending on the amount of email you have.
