Today, Mytour will guide you on how to block spam email addresses on Yahoo Mail, as well as how to flag and delete spam messages. You can mark and delete spam emails on both the website version and the Yahoo mobile app, but blocking email addresses can only be done on the website version. Unfortunately, Yahoo is known for its limited blocking capabilities, so we can’t do much to prevent videos, emails, or advertisements from appearing in your inbox.
Steps
Block Spam Email Addresses
Things to know about when blocking is effective: If you continuously receive emails from the same sender, you can block their messages from entering your inbox. Unfortunately, many spam services use dynamic email addresses to bypass this restriction. If you want to block a spam service that uses multiple email addresses, try deleting spam on your computer or on your phone.
Open your Yahoo inbox. Visit https://mail.yahoo.com/ using a web browser. Your Yahoo inbox will open if you're already logged in.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted.
Switch to the new Yahoo interface (if necessary). If you're still using the old Yahoo interface, click on the blue link One click away from your upgraded Inbox at the bottom left corner of the page.
- Skip this step if you're already using the new Yahoo interface.
Open the spam email. Click on a spam email to open it.
Copy the spam email address. In the top-left corner of the email, you'll see the sender's name (e.g., "Facebook") along with the email address enclosed in angle brackets (e.g., ""). Click and drag your mouse over the email address to highlight it, then press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘ Command+C (Mac) to copy the address.
- Note: Do not include the angle brackets in the email address.
Click on the Settings button located at the top-right of your inbox. A dropdown menu will appear.

Delete junk emails on your computer
Open the Yahoo inbox. Go to https://mail.yahoo.com/ in your web browser. Your Yahoo inbox will open if you're logged in.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted.
Switch to the new Yahoo interface (if necessary). If you're still using the old Yahoo interface, you'll need to click on the blue link One click away from your upgraded Inbox at the bottom left corner of the page.
- Skip this step if you're already using the new Yahoo interface.
Select the junk email. Check the box to the left of each email to mark it as junk.
Click Spam (Junk Mail). This button is near the top of the page, just below the search bar. The selected email will be moved to the Spam folder.
Select the Spam. Hover your mouse over this option on the left side of your inbox. The trash can icon will appear.

Click OK when prompted. This green button will appear in a pop-up window. The junk email you've selected will be deleted, and in the future, Yahoo will send similar emails to the Spam folder.
Delete junk mail on your phone
Open Yahoo Mail. Tap on the white envelope icon with a purple background. Your Yahoo inbox will open if you're logged into your account.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address and password when prompted.
- If you have multiple accounts logged in, you will need to select one account to continue.
Select the junk email. Hold down on the junk email until a checkmark appears next to it, then tap on other emails you wish to mark as spam.
Tap the ⋯ icon in the top-right corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will appear.
- Skip this step on Android devices.
Click on Mark as spam option. This option will be at the top of the dropdown menu. The selected emails will be moved to the Spam folder.
- On Android, you will need to tap the shield icon with the X at the bottom of the screen.
Tap the ☰ icon in the top-left corner of the screen. A menu will appear.
Scroll down and tap the trash can icon next to the Spam folder. This option will be near the middle of the menu.
Click on OK when prompted. The contents of the Spam folder will be deleted.
Advice
- The easiest way to keep spam from reaching your inbox is to avoid entering your email address on websites you don't need to use. However, Yahoo addresses are always targeted by spammers.
- Many business newsletters are sent on a daily or weekly basis. While they may not be considered "spam", they can still be bothersome. You can unsubscribe from these by finding the unsubscribe link at the bottom (or top) of the email and clicking it.
Warning
- Occasionally, emails with good intentions end up in the Spam folder. It's a good idea to check this folder regularly.
- Although it is impossible to block all spam from reaching your inbox, you can reduce the amount by frequently marking emails as spam and deleting them.
