Today, Mytour will show you how to boot your computer from a CD instead of using the internal hard drive. This method is very useful when you want to install a different operating system on your computer.
Steps
On Windows

Insert the CD into your computer. To start, place the CD with the logo facing up into the CD tray of your computer. The CD must already contain a Windows operating system version.

⊞ Win- On Windows 8, move the mouse pointer to the top right corner of the screen, then click on the magnifying glass icon.

Click on Restart (Restart). This option is located near the bottom of the pop-up menu.
- If programs are still running, you might need to click Restart anyway to continue.

Hold down the Del or F2 key to access the boot menu. This key may differ depending on your computer. Most computers will display a message during startup saying "Press [key] to enter setup" to let you know which key to press for BIOS access.
- Check your computer's manual or online support page for the correct BIOS key.

Navigate to the Boot tab. Use the arrow keys to select.
- The Boot tab might also be labeled as Boot Options, depending on your computer's manufacturer.

Choose the CD-ROM Drive (CD-ROM Drive). To proceed, press the down arrow key ↓ until the option is highlighted with a border.

Press the + key until the CD-ROM Drive option is moved to the top. The CD-ROM Drive will now be at the top of the boot options list.
- You may need to press a different key depending on the key guide on the right side of the BIOS screen.

Save your settings. A prompt will appear indicating the key for saving (such as F10) at the bottom of the screen for "Save and Exit". Press this key to restart the computer and boot from the CD.
- You may need to press ↵ Enter to confirm the changes.
On Mac

Insert the CD into your Mac computer. To do this, place the CD with the logo facing up into the CD slot of the Mac. The CD must contain a version of Mac OS to qualify as a boot option.
- Some Mac computers do not have a CD slot. If yours doesn’t, you will need to purchase an external CD drive.

Click on the Restart option. It is located at the bottom of the Apple menu.

Click on the Restart button when prompted. Your Mac will begin to restart.

Hold down the ⌘ Command key. You must press and hold the ⌘ Command key right when your Mac starts and hold it down until the Startup Manager window appears.

Click on the CD icon. This option typically displays the text "Mac OS X Install DVD" underneath. Click on this icon to select it.

Press the ⏎ Return key. This will initiate the boot process from the CD drive on your Mac.
