Steps
Simple Iced Tea

Boil two cups of water (480 ml). You can heat the water in a small pot or a kettle.

Turn off the heat.
Select 3 to 5 black tea bags of your choice. Ceylon and Keemun teas are ideal as they remain clear during brewing. You can also opt for a custom tea blend tailored to your drink.

Steep the tea bags in hot water for about 5 minutes. Leaving them longer will result in a bitter taste, while a shorter steeping time will make the tea too weak. This beverage requires a strong tea base since it will be diluted later. Remove the tea bags after 5 minutes.
Pour the brewed tea into a pitcher. Allow it to cool for 5 to 10 minutes.

Add two cups of cold water (480 ml) to the tea pitcher. This will dilute the tea, making it less concentrated. Stir well to ensure a uniform mixture.

Refrigerate the mixture until chilled. This process typically takes 2 to 3 hours.

Enjoy your tea. Pour the tea into a tall glass filled with ice. Squeeze a slice of lemon into the tea and garnish with a sprig of mint. If you prefer it sweet, start with half a teaspoon of sugar and adjust to taste.
Fruit-flavored iced tea

Prepare a strong tea mixture. Follow the simple iced tea method: boil 2 cups of water, steep 3 to 5 black tea bags for 5 minutes, add 2 cups of cold water, and sweeten with sugar and lemon to taste. Pour the mixture into a pitcher.

Place the tea pitcher in the refrigerator. Let it chill for 2 to 3 hours.
Add ½ cup of simple syrup. Stir well to dissolve the syrup into the tea – if it’s not sweet enough, you can add more syrup.
Take a cup of freshly chopped fruits. Dice peaches, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, and apples to fill one cup. You can also mix in a bit of lemon juice with the fruit.
Add the cup of fruit into the tea pitcher. Stir well until the fruit and black tea blend together, and the fruit pieces are evenly distributed throughout the tea.

Enjoy your tea. Pour the tea into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint on top.
Strawberry tea

Pour 1 liter of hot black tea into a large glass or ceramic bowl.
Add 1/3 cup of finely ground sugar to the tea bowl. Stir thoroughly until the sugar dissolves completely.
Mix in ½ cup of lemon juice. Taste the mixture to see if it needs more sugar or lemon juice. Then, let the mixture cool.
Blend 900 grams of strawberries into the tea mixture. Strain through a sieve to remove any lumps. Use the back of a wooden spoon to press the mixture. Allow it to cool.
Once the tea has cooled, add the strained strawberry puree and stir well. Transfer the mixture into a tea pitcher.

Chill for 30 minutes. Let the mixture cool in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or longer.

Savor the experience. Pour the tea into a glass filled with ice. Garnish the rim with whole or sliced strawberries for a decorative touch.
Vanilla Green Tea

Steep 4 heaping teaspoons of dried green tea in 1 liter of hot water. Allow the tea to infuse for 1 to 2 minutes.
Transfer the tea into a teapot or tea pitcher.

Add a tablespoon of lemon juice. Stir thoroughly to combine.

Add a tablespoon of honey. Stir well to ensure it blends smoothly.
Combine all the ingredients together. Mix thoroughly until the tea mixture becomes uniform.

Enjoy the tea with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in each glass and pour cold green tea over it. This tea can also serve as a delightful dessert.
Other types of iced tea

Make sweetened tea. This tea is perfect for those with a sweet tooth or for outdoor barbecue gatherings. Since sugar doesn’t fully dissolve in cold water, you can follow the simple iced tea recipe but add a cup of liquid sugar for every two cups of iced tea. If it’s still not sweet enough, add more liquid sugar.
- This refreshing drink tastes even better when paired with mint leaves.

Making Iced Lemon Tea. To create this refreshing drink, brew a pot of regular black tea by boiling two cups of water, steeping 3 to 5 tea bags for 5 minutes, and then adding two more cups of water to the mixture. Next, squeeze half a cup of lemon juice. Mix the lemon juice into the chilled tea. If the lemon flavor isn't strong enough, add a bit more lemon juice. Serve the tea with ice, sugar, and a sprig of mint.

Preparing Iced Vanilla Tea. Steep two cups of regular black tea. Let the tea cool, then mix in a cup of cold water, adding ice cubes if desired. Stir in two teaspoons of vanilla extract. Serve the tea with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Tips
- Add some crushed mint leaves to your cold tea pitcher. This will give the tea a subtle minty flavor.
- To sweeten your tea when it's cold, use agave syrup. Unlike sugar or honey, this syrup dissolves easily in cold water.
- Tea can develop a musty flavor, similar to corked wine. If your tea smells musty, it's spoiled—discard it.
- Is it hotter than 32°C outside? Brew a large pitcher of tea with a lid. Fill it with water and add several tea bags. Seal the lid and let it sit in the sun for at least 3 hours. Serve with ice.
- Remember this rule for iced tea: use double the amount of tea you would for hot tea. This ensures your iced tea retains its flavor after being diluted with ice.
- To chill tea faster, place the pitcher in the freezer for 1 to 2 hours.
- Don't brew tea in a coffee maker as some restaurants do. That flavor is unmistakable. Brewing your own tea is best!
- Squeeze lemon into your tea for a refreshing iced lemon tea.
- Besides lemon, you can use lemon myrtle leaves.
- Add ginger to your tea for a richer flavor.
- Avoid adding too much sugar, or it will turn into a sugary drink.
Warnings
- Avoid adding excessive sugar to any dish, as it can ruin the flavor. Similarly, don't overload your tea with too many ingredients. Remember: less is more.
- Do not steep tea bags in hot water for more than 5 minutes.
- Depending on the type of tea, your iced tea mixture might turn cloudy. However, this doesn't affect the taste. If you dislike the cloudiness, adding boiling water to the tea pitcher can help reduce it.
What You'll Need
- A small pot
- A container with a capacity of about 1 liter.
