Have you ever wanted to see your enemies in Clash of Clans continuously get destroyed as they try to invade your base? If so, you've come to the right place. Here, you can learn about basic base designs and strategic placements for buildings like mortars, wizard towers, archery towers, and cannons.
Steps
Select the type of base

Decide on the type of base you want to build. Here, we have three main types of bases: Farming, Trophy, and Hybrid.
- The Farming Base is primarily used for resource collection. The main idea behind this base is to place the Town Hall outside the walls. You may lose some trophies, but don't worry—you'll be granted a 12-hour shield during which no one can attack your village! You also often store your resources inside the walls.
- The Trophy Base places the Town Hall inside the base, and trophies are the most important thing to protect. This base is the opposite of the Farming Base. You'll be at risk of losing resources.
- The Hybrid Base is a balanced base that helps protect both trophies and resources effectively.

Decide on your base layout. There are several common design types such as:
- The Eggshell Base is a type of base with multiple walls surrounding it. For example, a core surrounded by walls, with an outer layer of walls protecting less important buildings.
- The Compartment Base is one where all the most important structures have their own compartments, and less significant buildings are placed outside. Some minor wall pieces might be left behind.
- The Titanic Compartment Base operates like the Titanic. The main idea is that there are multiple compartments, so if your enemy "floods" one segment, the others will support it. It's a hybrid of the Eggshell Base and the Compartment Base.
- The Optional Compartment Base is a type where each compartment holds 2-3 buildings instead of just one.
Building Placement

Place damage-dealing buildings near the center. Some of the most important buildings should be built close to the center of your base. Mortars are especially crucial due to their long range and weak points. Wizard Towers are slightly more flexible since they have a smaller range and no obvious weaknesses.

Group all buildings from your "normal" category together, including archery towers and cannons. It’s best to ensure they can support each other. This way, if one tower is under attack, the other towers can eliminate the attackers. This category also includes air defense buildings, which should be grouped together. If they are destroyed, your base will become vulnerable to dragons and similar troops.

Place traps based on your instincts. Traps are the most versatile buildings in the game. They can be used for various strategies, including the "smoke" and "troll siege" techniques (see method three). Basically, have fun with them. If you want to create a troll base, go ahead. Just do whatever you want.
Use Alternative Trap/Wall Methods

Implement "Double Walls". This method involves placing one layer of walls, followed by a gap, and then another layer of walls. This way, archers cannot shoot through the walls.

Build a "Troll Base". This involves creating a "random" hole in the middle of your base and filling it with traps. You should also surround it with strong defense structures, so inexperienced players will send large amounts of troops to it, only to be blown up.

Use "Smokescreen". You will create a "random" hole in your wall segment, and then soldiers will walk into it, only to be blasted into the air by the traps you've set.

Use Wallbreaker Sniper Traps. You will build walls with holes and place spring traps inside those gaps. This way, wall breakers will be launched into the air without being able to break through your walls.
Advice
- Avoid placing mortars too close to your resources, as their weakness could endanger them.
- Place a small Bomb a bit further from your Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors. This will distract any enemy archers sent to lure your defense and destroy your troops.
- Watch out for corners, as weak walls can allow wall-breakers to easily penetrate multiple compartments.
- Place two Giant Bombs close together so they detonate when triggered by a hog rider.
- Many beginners believe leaving gaps in the walls is a bad idea. In fact, that’s not true, as these gaps often create a much better base layout.
Warnings
- Do not upgrade your Town Hall before upgrading everything else as much as possible. You’ll regret it.
