Burning a CD for friends or creating a demo to advance your music career are just a few reasons why you might want to copy music from iTunes to a CD. iTunes makes it simple to burn a CD, as long as the CD has enough storage space. The following guide will show you how to burn a CD using any version of iTunes.
Steps

Open iTunes.

Create a Playlist. Click on File; New; Playlist to create a new list. Your playlist will appear in the left-hand menu. You can rename the playlist by clicking on the highlighted text and typing in your desired name.
- If the menu bar is hidden, click on the icon in the top-left corner and select Show Menu Bar to make it visible again.

Add Songs to Your Playlist. Simply drag and drop the songs you want on the CD into the playlist you just created. As you do this, a small green circle with a white plus sign will appear.
- You can add individual songs by dragging them into the playlist, or select multiple songs at once and drop them all into the list.
- To select multiple songs, click on the first song, hold the Shift key, and click on the last song in the group. All songs in between will be selected. Now just drag and drop as instructed.

Insert a blank CD-R/CD-RW into the tray and wait for the computer to recognize the disk. The disk icon will appear on the screen shortly. This process should take no more than 30 seconds.
- A standard CD-R/CD-RW holds either 74 minutes / 650 MB or 80 minutes / 700 MB of data. If your playlist exceeds 80 minutes, you’ll need to split the list across two discs.

Select "File" and then "Burn Playlist to Disc." Or, if you're using a newer version of iTunes, click on the playlist name in the sidebar and select "Burn to CD."

Set up the burn settings. Adjust the options to ensure the playlist is burned the way you want. Click "Burn" when you're ready to start the CD burn process. In the settings, you can modify:
- The burn speed of your computer. Generally, the faster the burn speed, the lower the audio quality.
- The gap (in seconds) between tracks.
- The format of the disk: Audio, Mp3, or DVD. Most CDs will be set to "Audio CD" format by default.

Click "Burn" and wait for the computer to write the information onto the disc. Depending on your settings and computer, this process can take anywhere from one to twelve minutes.

Finished. You will be notified when the disc has completed the burning process. Eject the CD, and you’re done burning your disc.
