The method to cancel your Netflix account depends on how you initially signed up. If your account was registered through Netflix's website, you can cancel it on Netflix.com using any computer, phone, or tablet. If you opted to pay via iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon Prime, you will need to cancel your account through the respective service. This article guides you on how to terminate your Netflix membership across various platforms.
Steps
Cancel on Netflix.com
Visit https://www.netflix.com. Use this method only if you signed up for Netflix on the website and paid directly through it. If you are not logged into your account, follow the on-screen instructions to log in.
- You can use this method on a computer, phone, or tablet.
Click on the main profile. This is usually the profile with your name.
Click on the avatar in the top right corner of the page. A menu will appear on the screen.
Click on Account in the menu.
Click on the gray Cancel Membership button. This button is located at the top left of the page, just below the "MEMBERSHIP & BILLING" heading.
- If you don’t see the cancellation option, you might not be paying directly through Netflix. Instead, the page will display the service you signed up with (e.g., Google Play, iTunes, Amazon Prime) along with instructions on how to cancel.
Click on the blue Finish Cancellation button. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Cancel on Google Play
- If you don’t use Android but pay through Google Play, log in at https://play.google.com and proceed to step 3.
Tap the ☰ menu in the top left corner of the screen.
Tap on Subscriptions. The screen will display a list of services you’ve subscribed to on Google Play.
Tap on Netflix. You’ll see your account details here, including the service fee and the next billing date.
- If Netflix doesn’t appear in your subscription list, you might have signed up through Netflix.com or another service. Alternatively, you may have used a different Google account for registration.
Tap on Cancel Subscription. A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
Tap on Cancel Subscription to confirm. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Cancel via iTunes on iPhone or iPad
Tap on your name at the top of the screen.
Tap on iTunes & App Store.
Tap on your Apple ID. This is the email address displayed at the top of the screen. A menu will appear here.
Tap on View Apple ID in the menu. Depending on your security settings, you may need to verify your identity before proceeding.
Scroll down and select Subscriptions near the middle of the page.
Tap on the Netflix service. Details about your subscription will appear here.
- If Netflix doesn’t appear in your subscription list, you might have signed up through Netflix.com or another service. Alternatively, you may have used a different Google account for registration.
Tap on Cancel subscription at the bottom of the page. A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
Tap on Confirm. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Cancel via iTunes on a Computer
Open iTunes on your computer. If you signed up for Netflix on an Apple device and paid through iTunes, use this method to cancel your subscription via iTunes.
- If you’re using a Mac, iTunes is the app with the musical note icon in the Dock. On a Windows PC, iTunes is typically found in the Start menu. If you haven’t installed iTunes, download the free application from https://www.apple.com/itunes.
- Ensure you’re using the Apple ID associated with your Netflix subscription. To log in, click on the Account menu and select Sign In.
Click on the Account menu. This menu is located at the top of the screen on Mac and at the top of the iTunes application on Windows.
Click on View My Account in the menu.
Scroll down and click on Manage next to "Subscriptions". You’ll see a list of all services subscribed to with your Apple ID.
- If Netflix doesn’t appear in your subscription list, you might have signed up through Netflix.com or another service. Alternatively, you may have used a different Google account for registration.
Click on Edit next to "Netflix". Details about your subscription will appear here.
Click on Cancel Subscription at the bottom of the page. A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
Click on Confirm. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Cancel on Apple TV
Select Settings on the Apple TV home screen. Use this method only if you signed in to Netflix on Apple TV (or another Apple device) and paid for the service through iTunes.
Select Accounts.
Select Manage Subscriptions. This option is located under the "Subscriptions" heading.
Select the Netflix service. Details about your subscription will appear here.
- If Netflix doesn’t appear in your subscription list, you might have signed up through Netflix.com or another service. Alternatively, you may have used a different Google account for registration.
Select Cancel subscription. A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Cancel on Amazon Prime
Visit https://www.amazon.com. Use this method only if you’ve added the Netflix channel to your Amazon Prime account.
- If you’re not logged into your Amazon account, click on Sign In in the top right corner to log in.
Click on Account & Lists. This option is located in the top right corner of the page. A menu will appear here.
Click on Memberships & Subscriptions. This option is displayed under the "Your Account" heading on the right side of the menu.
Click on Channel Subscriptions in the bottom left corner of the page. The phrase "Prime Video" appears above this option. This is the list of all services you’ve subscribed to through Amazon Prime.
Click on Cancel Channel next to "Netflix". You’ll find this option under the "Your Channels" heading at the bottom of the page. A confirmation message will appear on the screen.
- If Netflix doesn’t appear in your subscription list, you might have signed up through Netflix.com or another service. Alternatively, you may have used a different Google account for registration.
Click on the Cancel Channel button to confirm. Your Netflix service will remain active until the end of the current billing period. From now on, your account will no longer be charged.
Tips
- Cancel your account at least one week before the billing period ends to avoid being charged for the next month.
- Return any rented DVDs to Netflix to avoid additional charges after canceling your account.
