This article guides you through the process of modifying the proxy settings for your network connection. You can perform this on most desktop browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Internet Explorer, Safari, as well as on iPhone or Android devices. Typically, you'll find the required connection details for the selected proxy on its information page.
Steps to Follow
Google Chrome

Launch Google Chrome with the red, yellow, green, and blue circular icon.

Click the icon ⋮ at the top-right corner of the page to open the menu.

Click on the Settings option near the bottom of the displayed menu.

Scroll down and select Advanced at the end of the page.

Scroll down and choose Open proxy settings under the "System" section towards the bottom of the page.

Edit the proxy settings. This step will vary based on your operating system:
- For Windows - Click LAN settings, then modify the URL in the Address field and/or change the port in the Port field.
- For Mac - Select the proxy you want to edit on the left side of the page, then change the URL in the Address field, the username and/or password in the Username and Password fields, along with any bypassed pages in the Bypass field.

Click OK, then click Apply at the bottom of the windows. This will save the updated proxy settings.
Firefox

Open Firefox with the blue globe icon and the orange fox.

Click the ☰ icon at the top-right corner of the window to open the menu.

Click on Options (the gear icon) in the displayed menu.
- On Mac, you will click Preferences here.
Click on the Advanced tab on the far left side of the Firefox window.
- If you're using a Mac, the Advanced tab will appear above the Preferences window.

Click on the Network (Network) tab found at the top of the Advanced page.

Click on the Settings… button on the right side of the "Connection" header to open the current proxy settings.

Edit the proxy settings. Modify the following fields as necessary:
- HTTP Proxy - Enter a new proxy address or adjust the current one as needed.
- No Proxy for - Enter any addresses for which you don't want to use a proxy.

Select OK to save the proxy settings and exit the proxy menu.
Microsoft Edge







Click on the Proxy tab found below the left column in the Network & Internet window.
- You may need to scroll down in the left column to see this tab.

Scroll down to the "Manual proxy setup" section at the bottom of the page.

Edit the proxy information. Make the necessary adjustments in the following fields:
- Address - Replace or modify the proxy address here.
- Port - Change the port used by the proxy to connect through your firewall.
- Exceptions - Add any websites you do not want to use the proxy for (e.g., Facebook).

Click on the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your proxy settings.
Internet Explorer

Open Internet Explorer by clicking the blue "e" icon with a yellow ribbon.


Click on Internet options (Internet Settings) near the bottom of the menu displayed.

Click the Connections tab at the top of the Internet Options window.

Click the LAN settings button under the section labeled "Local Area Network (LAN) settings" towards the bottom of the page.

Check the box labeled "Use a proxy server for your LAN" under the "Proxy server" section.

Edit the proxy information. Modify the following fields:
- Address - Update the URL path for the proxy.
- Port - Change the port used by the proxy to connect through your firewall.

Click on Apply to save the changes.
- This setting will also apply to Google Chrome.
Safari



Click on System Preferences near the top of the menu that appears.

Click on the Network (Network System) with the globe icon found in the System Preferences menu.

Click on the Advanced (Advanced) located in the center of the Network page.

Click on the Proxies tab located at the top of the window.
- First, click the lock icon and enter the admin username and password.

Edit the proxy settings. Modify the following required fields:
- Web Proxy Server - Edit or replace the URL path of the proxy server.
- Username - Change the username you use to log into the proxy (only do this if you've updated your username on the proxy page).
- Password - Update the password you use for proxy login.
- Bypass - Enter the URL of any site you don't want to use with the proxy.

Click the Apply button, the blue one at the bottom of the page, to save the settings.
iPhone



Tap on the Wi-Fi option near the top of the Settings page to open the Wi-Fi menu.

Select a network by tapping on the network you wish to connect to via proxy.
- Skip this step if you're already connected to the desired network.
- You will need to enter the network's password before proceeding.

Tap the ⓘ icon next to the network to open the settings.

Scroll down to the "HTTP PROXY" section near the bottom of the page.

Tap the Manual (Manual) option at the bottom of the page.
Edit the proxy settings.
UsernamePassword
Tap on < Wi-Fi at the top left corner of the screen to save your proxy settings.
Android



Tap on Wi-Fi located near the top of the Settings screen.

Select a network by tapping on the network you wish to connect to via the proxy.
- If you're already connected to a network, skip this step.
- If it's a new network, you'll need to enter the password for that network.

Press and hold the Wi-Fi network name to open the menu.

Tap on Modify network (Edit the network) towards the bottom of the displayed menu.

Tap on Advanced options in the menu that appears in the middle of the page.

Tap on Manual to manually configure your proxy settings.

Modify the proxy settings. Please update the following fields:
- Proxy hostname - Edit or replace the proxy address.
- Proxy port - Change the port used for the proxy connection.
- Bypass proxy for - Add addresses that you wish to exclude from using the proxy. Separate addresses with commas but do not include spaces.

Tap on Save at the bottom of the screen to save the settings and exit the proxy menu.
Advice
- Ensure you do not alter the proxy settings before consulting with your proxy service provider.
Warning
- Incorrect entry of the address, username, password, or port may cause the proxy to fail.
