How to Change the Default Language in Google Chrome

This article provides a guide on how to adjust the default language used in Google Chrome. Please note that websites may still display content in their original language, but Google Chrome will offer a translation of that content to your chosen default language. You cannot change the default language for the Chrome app on iPhone or Android as this depends on the phone's language settings.

Click the ⋮ icon located at the upper-right corner of the browser window. A dropdown menu will appear here.

Click on Settings. You will find this option near the bottom of the dropdown menu.

Set the Default Language. Click on ⋮ next to the language, then click on Display Google Chrome in this language in the dropdown menu.

• Some languages, such as English, cannot be set as the default language. Instead, you'll need to select "English (United States)" or another dialect.

Click on Relaunch. This option appears next to the language you have set as the default for Chrome. Google Chrome will close and reopen; after restarting, the Settings menu and integrated menus will display the language you selected.

• It takes about 30 seconds for Google Chrome to reopen.
