This article provides a detailed guide on updating your Yahoo Mail password, whether you're using a desktop or a mobile app. Easily change your current password or reset a forgotten one with these straightforward instructions.
Steps
Reset a Forgotten Password on Your Computer

Open the Yahoo Mail login page. Visit https://login.yahoo.com/ using your computer's browser. If you're not logged into your Yahoo account, you'll see the login screen displayed.
- If you're already logged into Yahoo, this action will direct you to your inbox. In this case, click on your name in the top-right corner of the window, select Account Info, then choose Account Security before proceeding. If the Account Security tab appears without prompting for a password, follow the steps in Method 2 to change your password.

Click on the Trouble signing in? link located at the bottom-right corner of the login section. This will redirect you to the account recovery page.

Enter the phone number associated with your Yahoo account. This should be the number you used when registering for Yahoo.
- If you have a recovery email address, you can input that instead of the phone number.
- You can also enter your Yahoo email address if you don’t recall the phone number or recovery email.

Click the Continue button in blue below the input field.

Click on Yes, text me an Account Key (Send Account Key via text). This is the blue button near the top of the page. Yahoo will send a code to the selected phone number.
- If you entered a recovery email, click Yes, send me an Account Key.
- If you entered your Yahoo email, you’ll need to fill in the missing characters or numbers in the recovery option provided by Yahoo before proceeding.

Retrieve the Account Key. Follow these steps:
- Text - Open your messaging app on your phone, locate the message from Yahoo, and read the 8-character code in the content.
- Email - Open your recovery email inbox, find the email from Yahoo (check spam if necessary), and read the 8-character code in the content.

Enter the Account Key. Type the Account Key into the field in the middle of the "Verify" page.

Click on the Verify button below the input field. After entering the correct code sent by Yahoo, you will be redirected to the account selection page.

Select your account. Click on the account for which you want to reset the password to log in.
- If you only have one Yahoo account, this step will not be required.

Click on Create a new password near the bottom of the page.

Enter your new password twice. Type the new password into the "New password" field, then type it again into the "Confirm password" field.
- Both entries must match before you can proceed to the next step.
- You can check your password by ticking the "Show password" box.

Click the Continue button at the bottom of the page.

Click Looks good when prompted. This confirms the password change was successful and will display your Yahoo inbox.
