This article provides a guide on how to change your background in Zoom meetings. For optimal results, it's advisable to use a green screen or consistent lighting to help Zoom detect both you and your background clearly.
Steps
Using Zoom on a computer

Enable the Virtual Background feature on your Zoom account.
- Go to https://zoom.us/signin and log in to your account.
- Click on Settings or My Meeting Settings in the left panel.
- Scroll down to the "Virtual Background" section on the right panel. If the slider is blue, you can set up a virtual background and proceed to the next step. If the slider is grey, click on it to turn it blue, then restart Zoom.
- If you cannot see this option or change the slider, ask your administrator to enable virtual backgrounds for you.

Open the Zoom program on your computer and log in. This program has a white camera icon on a blue background, which you can find in the Windows menu or the Applications folder.

Click on the profile icon at the top-right corner of the Zoom window. If you don't have a profile picture, the first letter of your name will appear here.

Click on Settings. You will find the gray gear icon at the top of the list.
Click on Background & Filters. This option is in the left sidebar. Once you click on it, your image will immediately appear.

Select I have a green screen if you are using a green screen. While having a green screen (or any solid color) is not mandatory, it helps make the background appear more realistic. After selecting this option, follow the on-screen instructions to click on the green screen and set up the background color. For example, if you use a white background, anything white will be replaced with a virtual background.
- If you do not have a green screen but own an Intel i5 or i7 processor and see the Download button below "Enable smart virtual background", click it to simulate a green screen. This action allows you to replace multiple colors in the background with another image.
- Multi-colored backgrounds do not allow Zoom to replace one specific color with another image, so the result may appear blurry and unclear.
Use Zoom on your smartphone or tablet.

Open the Zoom app. This is the program with a white camera icon on a blue background, which you can find on your home screen or in the app drawer.

Join or create a meeting. You must be in a meeting to access the option to change your background.

Tap on the 'More' option ••• . You will see the three-dot icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Tap on Virtual Background in the menu.

Choose a background or upload your own. If you'd like to upload a custom background, simply tap the + button and select an image from your phone or tablet.
- If you prefer not to use a background, tap None.

Tap on Close (Close). This will return you to your ongoing meeting with the newly selected background.
Enable a background for your Zoom meeting

Log into the Zoom website as an administrator. If you're the admin of a Zoom account for your organization or company, you can log in to the Zoom website and set up a background for your meetings. If you're unsure of the website address, visit https://zoom.us/signin to log in.

Click on Room Management (Room Management). You'll find this tab on the left side of the page, directly below the "Admin" heading.

Click on the Zoom Rooms. If you have administrative rights in the Zoom Room, the information will be displayed here.

Click on Account Settings (Account Settings). You will find this option next to the Zoom Room for which you have administrative rights.

Toggle the "Virtual Background with Greenscreen" slider to the On position. This will apply the same virtual background to all users in the Zoom Room.

Click on Upload Image (Upload Image) or choose from the available preset images. You can upload multiple options as an alternative to the default background.
