How to Check the Balance of an Apple Gift Card

Receiving an Apple Gift Card is exciting! Apple Store Gift Cards can be used for purchasing laptops, desktops, iPads, and other Apple hardware and accessories. Apple Music Membership and iTunes Gift Cards are used for buying memberships, music, movies, and other content from the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks. You can check your balance using your smartphone, laptop, or by visiting an Apple retail store.

Check Online. If you're in the US, you can check your balance online. Visit Apple's website, log in to your account, and click on 'Check the Balance of a Gift Card.' Enter the PIN from the back of the card, and your balance will be displayed.

• If you're in Canada, you must check your balance by calling or visiting a retail store. Online balance checking is not available.

Dial 1-888-320-3301. After connecting to the automated system, you can say: 'Check my Apple Store gift card balance.' The system will redirect you to the gift card department. Choose your preferred language and press 1 to hear your gift card balance. You will be prompted to enter the PIN on the back of your card, followed by the pound sign. You will then hear your balance.

Visit an Apple Store. If you live in a city with an Apple Store, simply bring your gift card to the store and ask a service representative to check the balance for you.

Find the redemption code. Look on the back of your gift card for the scratch-off label. Scratch it off to reveal the code, which consists of 16 digits.

Redeem the gift card code on your computer. Open the iTunes application and click on the Store button. On the right side of the screen, click the 'Redeem Code' button. Then, log in with your Apple ID.

Enter the 16-digit code. After entering the code, you will see the updated iTunes balance. The balance will reflect the amount of the gift card you just redeemed.

• By 'redeeming' your iTunes gift card, you are adding the balance to your account. The money isn’t actually used, it's simply added to your account to view the balance.
• If you already have a balance in your account, subtract the old balance from the new balance after redeeming the gift card. The difference is the amount on the gift card.
• If you'd like to check your balance after making a purchase, simply follow these same steps again.

Redeem the gift card on your phone. Open the iTunes Music app on your smartphone. Then, tap on the iTunes store and sign in. Tap 'music' at the bottom of the screen, select 'redeem,' and enter the gift card code to view your balance.

• In some countries, you can use your smartphone's camera to redeem a gift card. After selecting 'redeem,' tap 'use Camera.' Then, take a picture of the 16-digit code, and the phone will automatically redeem it.

Check the balance on the Mac App Store. On your computer, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Scroll down to 'App Store.' In the App Store, click the 'redeem' option on the right side of the window. Finally, enter the gift card number to view your balance.

Use the wallet app on your smartphone. Open the wallet app and tap the plus sign. Choose the app option and scroll down to redeem the code. You’ll find an option for the iTunes pass. Tap it to start and add the iTunes pass to your wallet. After adding the iTunes gift card to your wallet, simply open the iTunes pass and check your balance at the top right corner.
