Are you trying to activate your smartphone but can't find the IMEI code? If you know its location, this 15-character code is easy to locate, even when the screen is locked. Today, Mytour will guide you on how to check the IMEI code on your Android or iPhone when the screen is locked, as well as how to identify the IMEI code for a locked phone with specific carriers.
Steps
On a Locked Phone Screen

Examine the back of the phone. If the screen isn't responding or you don't know the password, look at the back of the phone to find the IMEI number (depending on the model). For iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, or iPhone 5, the IMEI code is usually found on the back. Some Android phones also have the IMEI number printed on the back of the device.

Check above or below the battery. On some Android phones with removable batteries, the IMEI code is printed on the underside. You may even find the IMEI code beneath the battery cover.
- Turn off the phone, remove the back cover, take out the battery, and check if the IMEI code is located in this area.
- This method doesn't apply to phones with non-removable batteries.

Remove the SIM tray. Most phones have the IMEI number engraved on the SIM tray. To remove the SIM tray and locate the IMEI code, follow these steps:
- Use a SIM ejector tool (also known as a SIM pin) or a straightened paperclip.
- Find the hole on the SIM tray.
- Gently insert the SIM ejector tool or paperclip into the hole and push.
- When you pull out the tool, the SIM tray will pop out.

Check the phone's packaging. If you can't find the IMEI code on the phone itself, check the box it came in (if you still have it). Typically, the IMEI code is printed on the outside of the box or inside the owner's manual.

Contact the carrier. Sometimes, mobile service providers grant access to an online portal that contains IMEI information for users. If you explain your situation, there's a good chance the carrier will help you determine the IMEI number over the phone.
