This article explains how to check the version of your Internet Explorer browser. Internet Explorer 11 is the final version, as Microsoft has replaced Internet Explorer with Microsoft Edge and will discontinue support for Internet Explorer. If you do not have Internet Explorer 11, you should update Internet Explorer to ensure security or download Microsoft Edge.
Steps
Launch Internet Explorer. This is the application with a blue "e" icon wrapped in a yellow ribbon.
- If you don't see the gear icon, press the Alt key and click on the Help tab located in the top-left corner of the page.
Click on About Internet Explorer (Internet Explorer Information). This option is located at the bottom of the current menu. A new window will pop up on the screen.
Check the version of Internet Explorer. Look for the number next to the "Version:" label (Version) in the displayed window. The number before the dot indicates the version in use (for example, IE 10 or 11), while the digits after the dot show the technical details related to that version.
