Uber allows you to book rides from partner drivers directly through your phone, tablet, or computer. To check if the service is available in your current location or a destination you plan to visit, use the city-check tool on Uber's website. You can also download the Uber app and set up an account. The app will automatically notify you if the service is available. Even if the service isn't available in your current location, the app will start functioning once you move to an area where Uber operates.
Steps
Check Uber's Website

Visit the Uber Cities page using a web browser.

Enter the address, city name, or postal code into the search bar. A list of available results will appear below.

Click on the name of the city you want to check. A confirmation message about Uber's availability in that city will appear.
- You can use the same method to check the availability of Uber Eats (Food Delivery), though these services are often more limited.
- If Uber is not available in your current area, you can try calling a taxi.
Download the Uber App

Download Uber from the App Store or Play Store and open the app. Tap on 'Install' and then select 'Open' once the installation is complete.

Tap on 'Register'.

Fill out the account form and tap 'Next'. Enter a valid name, email, password, and phone number. A verification code will be sent to you via text message.

Enter the verification code you received and tap 'Next'. You will be redirected to the payment method setup page.

Enter your payment details to complete the registration. Provide a valid credit card number and expiration date. Afterward, you will be taken to the ride-booking interface. A green dot indicates your current location, and a movable pin marks the pickup point.

Tap on the ride options to check the availability of each Uber service. Each service is represented by a button at the bottom of the app (uberX, uberXL, Select, Access, or Taxi). The pin icon will display the estimated time for the nearest car to reach you, indicating service availability. If no service is available, the pin will show 'No Cars Available'.
- uberX is Uber's standard service, uberXL offers larger vehicles, Select is for premium cars, and Access caters to passengers with disabilities.
- You can drag the pin around to change the pickup point, and the estimated time will adjust accordingly.
- Nearby cars will appear on the map, with their locations updated every few seconds.
Tips
- If you're using Uber abroad, contact your bank to set up travel notifications. Additionally, check with your mobile service provider to confirm data availability (though Uber also works with Wi-Fi).
