Amazon gift cards are a popular gift choice for Christmas, birthdays, and graduations. After adding the card to your account, you might be curious about the balance. Amazon allows you to check the total balance of your gift cards. You can even verify the balance without redeeming the card. This is useful if you received a gift card but aren’t sure of its value.
Steps
Check Your Account’s Gift Card Balance

Visit Amazon.com. Open a web browser (e.g., Google Chrome or Firefox) on your computer, smartphone, laptop, etc. Click on the address bar at the top of your browser window, type 'Amazon.com' into the address bar, and hit Enter.
Sign in to Your Amazon Account. At the top right of the website, you'll see the words 'Hello, Sign In.' Click here to be directed to the login page. Then, enter your email address or username along with your password. If you don’t have an account yet, click on 'Create your Amazon account.'
- To create a new Amazon account, you'll need to enter an email address. If you don’t have an email, you’ll need to set one up.

Navigate to the 'Your Account' Section. After logging in, the account page should open automatically. If not, manually go to it by hovering over the 'Accounts & Lists' tab in the navigation bar. In the left column, click on 'Your Account.'

Locate the Gift Card Options in 'Amazon Wallet.' Scroll down to the second section titled 'Amazon Wallet.' This section contains two columns: 'Payment Methods' and 'Gift Cards.'

Click on 'View Gift Card Balance and Activity.' Under the Gift Cards heading, you’ll find the first option that allows you to check your balance. This link will appear in blue. Click on it to open the gift card balance page.

View Your Balance. After clicking on 'View Gift Card Balance and Activity,' the gift card balance page will appear. Your balance will be displayed in green text inside a box. If you have added multiple cards to your account, the total balance will show the combined value of all cards.
Check the Balance of an Unredeemed Gift Card

Sign in to Your Amazon Account. Open your preferred browser and go to Amazon.com. Click the 'Sign-in' button located near the top right of the screen. On the next page, enter your email and password to log in to your Amazon account.

Click on 'Gift Cards and Registry.' At the top of the screen, there’s a search bar, and beneath it, you’ll find links to different sections of the website. Click on 'Gift Cards and Registry.' This will take you to a page with various options.

Click on 'Redeem a Gift Card.' On the screen, you’ll see three squares aligned in a row. Below this row, there’s a sequence of six boxes. The second box from the right, next to the last option, says 'Redeem a gift card.' Click this link.

Scratch off the silver coating on the back of the card. On a brand-new Amazon card, there’s a silver coating on the back that hides the redemption code. You can use a coin or your fingernail to scratch off the silver layer to reveal the code.

Enter the gift card code. Look for the long string of characters, both letters and numbers, on the back of the card after scratching off the silver coating. Carefully enter this code, including all uppercase letters and hyphens.

Click on 'Check.' After entering the gift card code, you’ll have two options: check the balance or apply the value to your account. If you want to add the card's balance to your account, choose the corresponding option. Otherwise, click the 'Check' button to verify the amount on the card.
