If you're looking to fix an issue on your computer, it's helpful to know which version of Windows you're running. Depending on the version you're using, you can better pinpoint the issue. Whether you're using a 32-bit or 64-bit system, this process will only take a few minutes.
Steps
Identify the Current Windows Version
Open the Run dialog box.⊞ Win+R
Run
Type winver and press ↵ Enter or click on OK.

Check the Windows version. The version of Windows will appear first ("Windows 7", "Windows 8", etc.). Below the Windows logo, you'll find the version and Build number (e.g., "Version 6.3 (Build 9600)").
Identify Windows Version in Another Way
Determine whether your Windows operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit

Open "System Properties". You can access System Properties by pressing the keyboard shortcut ⊞ Win + Pause or Pause Break, or by right-clicking on This PC/Computer/My Computer and selecting Properties.

Check your Windows operating system details. At the top of the window that opens, you will see the name of the Windows version installed. Under the "System" section, look for "System type:" to find out whether your system is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows.
