While slime is a fun and entertaining toy, it can be quite troublesome when it sticks to your carpet. However, there's no need to worry. You can use various methods and common cleaning products to effectively remove dried slime from your carpet. With just a little time and a few simple steps, you can easily clean the stain off your carpet.
Steps
Cleaning Slime

Scrape off the slime. If a large chunk of slime is stuck on your carpet, try to scrape off as much as possible. Use a spoon to scoop it out or carefully scrape it away with a knife, working from the outside inward.

Use a vacuum cleaner. A vacuum cleaner can help remove slime from the carpet, leaving only a faint stain. Move the vacuum in different directions around the affected area to thoroughly suck up the dried slime. You can use either a standard vacuum or a handheld one.
- Since the slime has already dried, be cautious to avoid clogging the vacuum.

Choose a cleaning solution. Vinegar, rubbing alcohol, grease remover, orange oil, and WD-40 are all effective for cleaning slime and stains from carpets. Select any product you already have at home or purchase one from a supermarket.

Wear gloves and test the cleaning product on a small area. Gloves will protect your hands from chemicals and dyes in the slime. Always test the cleaning solution on an inconspicuous spot on the carpet before treating the stain.
Treating the Stain

Apply the cleaning product to the carpet. You can pour or spray rubbing alcohol, pure white vinegar, or WD-40 directly onto the carpet, as these products won’t damage the carpet’s backing. Ensure the entire slime-stained area is thoroughly wet. However, if using orange oil or grease remover, apply the solution to a cloth and dab it onto the carpet. Use just enough solution to moisten the slime and stain, preventing over-saturation that could damage the carpet fibers.

Wait for 10-15 minutes to let the solution soak into the carpet. A crucial step here is allowing the cleaning solution time to soften the slime and penetrate the carpet fibers, effectively loosening the stain.

Wipe away the slime and stain with an old cloth. After 10-15 minutes, use an old towel or paper towels to gently remove the slime and stain. Avoid scrubbing too hard! Discard the cloth once you're done.
- If the stain persists, repeat the process.

Rinse the stain with hot water. Soak an old cloth in hot water, wring it out, and dab it onto the carpet to remove any remaining cleaning solution and slime residue.

Dry the area and air out the carpet. Press a dry towel onto the carpet to absorb excess moisture. The final step is to let the carpet air dry completely.
