False eyelashes can sometimes be quite pricey, so you might want to reuse them multiple times. If you plan to reuse your false eyelashes, there are several methods to consider. You can clean them using cotton swabs. Alternatively, tweezers and a plastic bowl filled with makeup remover can be used to gently clean the lashes. Once done, store them in a cool, dry place.
Steps
Cleaning with Cotton Swabs

Gather your supplies. Before cleaning your false eyelashes, ensure you have all the necessary tools ready. For this method, you will need:
- Eye makeup remover
- Rubbing alcohol
- Cotton pads
- Cotton swabs
- Tweezers

Wash your hands thoroughly. Start by washing your hands with clean tap water and antibacterial soap. Avoid cleaning false eyelashes with dirty hands, as this could lead to eye infections.
- Wet your hands under clean running water. Apply antibacterial soap and scrub for about 20 seconds. Clean between your fingers, the backs of your hands, and under your nails.
- Rinse your hands thoroughly and dry them with a clean towel.

Remove the false eyelashes. Before cleaning, carefully take off the false eyelashes. Use your fingertips instead of nails or tools like tweezers to avoid damaging the lashes.
- Hold the lash band firmly between your thumb and index finger.
- Gently pull the lash band away. The false eyelashes should come off easily.
Soak a cotton pad with makeup remover and gently wipe the false eyelashes. Take a cotton pad and pour some makeup remover onto it. Gently swipe the cotton pad along the false eyelashes in a soft motion. Wipe from the base to the tip of the lashes to remove any adhesive residue. Repeat until all makeup is completely removed.
Repeat the steps on the other side of the false eyelashes. Flip the lashes over. Take a fresh cotton pad and soak it with makeup remover. Repeat the wiping process along the other side of the lashes. As before, wipe from the base to the tip, ensuring the adhesive area is clean. Remove all traces of makeup.
Use tweezers to remove leftover adhesive. Adhesive often remains on the lash band. You can use tweezers to carefully pick off any leftover glue.
- Check if any adhesive is still stuck to the lash band. If so, take a pair of tweezers. Use one hand to hold the tweezers and gently pull the adhesive away. Use your other hand to hold the false eyelashes with your fingertips.
- Only use the tweezers to remove the adhesive. Pulling on the lashes themselves may damage them.
Dip a fresh cotton pad into rubbing alcohol and wipe the lash band. You need to remove any leftover adhesive or makeup residue from the lash band. Soak a new cotton pad in rubbing alcohol and gently wipe along the band. This step not only cleans the adhesive but also disinfects the band, ensuring safe reuse of the false eyelashes.
Using a Plastic Bowl

Gather your supplies. Before starting this method, ensure you have all the necessary tools ready. You will need the following items:
- A plastic bowl, such as a small Tupperware container
- Eye makeup remover
- Tweezers
- Paper towels
- An eyelash comb
Wash your hands thoroughly. As always, wash your hands before starting to prevent bacterial contamination of the false eyelashes. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds with clean water and antibacterial soap. Clean under your nails, between your fingers, and the backs of your hands. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel.

Remove the false eyelashes. Take off the false eyelashes after washing your hands. Use your fingertips instead of nails or tweezers to avoid damaging the lashes. Hold the lashes between your thumb and index finger and gently pull the lash band inward. The lashes should come off easily.
Place the false eyelashes into the bowl. Simply lay the false eyelashes inside the bowl. Ensure they are lying flat.
Pour makeup remover into the bowl. Add a tablespoon of makeup remover to the bowl. If the bowl is larger, you may need to use more. Pour enough solution to fully submerge the false eyelashes.

Let the bowl sit aside for 5 minutes. Place it in a safe area, out of reach of children or pets. Do not leave the bowl out for more than 5 minutes, as prolonged exposure can damage the false eyelashes.
Use tweezers to remove the false eyelashes. After 5 minutes, gently lift the lashes out of the bowl. Place them on a clean paper towel. Lay the towel on a flat and clean surface.
Use tweezers to remove adhesive residue from the false eyelashes. Hold the lashes between your thumb and index finger. Use the tweezers to clean any remaining glue from the lash band. Remember to only pull the adhesive and avoid tugging on the lashes themselves, as this can cause damage.
Clean the bowl and add more makeup remover. Rinse the bowl thoroughly and pour in additional makeup remover. Do not use as much as before. Add just enough to create a thin layer of remover at the bottom of the bowl.
Rinse the false eyelashes in the makeup remover using tweezers. Take a pair of tweezers. Use them to swish the false eyelashes back and forth inside the bowl. Move the lashes from the left to the right side of the bowl. Then flip the lashes and repeat the process for the other side.

Repeat until the false eyelashes are completely clean. Continue pouring out the dirty solution, adding fresh makeup remover, and swishing the lashes with tweezers. Keep doing this until the remover remains clear while you swish the lashes. This indicates that the false eyelashes are fully clean.
Place the false eyelashes on a clean paper towel to dry. Once cleaned, set the lashes in a safe spot to dry. Use a paper towel or similar item to lay them flat. Store the lashes in a secure area, away from children or pets.
Use an eyelash comb to brush the false eyelashes. Gently comb through the lashes. Do not skip this step. Combing the lashes after cleaning helps them maintain their original shape.
Storing False Eyelashes

Allow the false eyelashes to dry completely before storing. Avoid storing them while they are still wet. Let the lashes air dry for about an hour before putting them away.
Place the false eyelashes back into their case. Store them in their original container. Avoid keeping them in a makeup drawer, as dust and debris can stick to the surface, potentially causing eye infections.
- If the original case is unavailable, you can use a contact lens case. Alternatively, purchase a dedicated false eyelash case online.
Store in a dark place. Do not expose false eyelashes to direct sunlight, as this can cause discoloration. Keep them in a dark area to maintain their original color.
Tips
- Clean gently. False eyelashes are delicate and can easily get damaged.
