How to Clean Your Dog's Collar

Mix baking soda with water. Stir one small spoon of baking soda into hot water. This solution will help clean off any dirt stuck to your dog's collar.

• Make sure to remove the collar from your dog's neck before cleaning it.

Apply the mixture to scrub the collar. Dip the brush into the mixture and scrub it onto the collar.

Rinse thoroughly. Hold the collar under running water to wash away the mixture.

Let it dry. You can either lay the collar on a dry towel or hang it out in the air, but make sure to avoid direct sunlight. Once it's dried, the collar will be clean and beautiful again.

Wash the collar in hot water. While washing, check the collar for any lingering smells. If the odor persists, apply more soap to the collar and rinse it again, or repeat the process until the smell is gone.

Allow it to dry. You can either place the collar on a dry towel or let it air dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight. The odor will completely disappear once it dries.

• If you're using a washing machine to clean your dog's bedding, you can place the collar inside a laundry bag and wash it along with the bedding.
• The cleaning methods mentioned above can also be applied to your dog's leash.
• If you often take your dog for grooming, you can ask the groomer to help clean the dog's collar as well.
• Saddle soap (a cleaner and conditioner for leather) is a great option for cleaning leather collars. It's best to apply leather conditioner to the collar after cleaning.

• Replace a collar that's worn out to avoid any danger to your dog, especially if the dog chews or trips over it.
• Avoid using bleach on collars made from natural materials (such as cotton, leather, bamboo, etc.) as these chemicals can damage or discolor the collar depending on the material. Bleach can be used on most synthetic collars.
