This article provides a detailed guide on how to delete browsing history across popular browsers, including Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, and Safari, for both mobile and desktop versions.
Steps
Chrome on Desktop

Launch Google Chrome by clicking its icon, which features a red, green, yellow, and blue sphere.

Click the ⋮ icon at the top-right corner of the page to open the options menu.

Select More tools near the bottom of the displayed menu to open an additional options list.

Click on Clear browsing data… in the More tools list to open the "Clear browsing data" page.

Choose the time range for which you want to delete browsing history. Click the dropdown menu to the right of "Clear the following items from" (Time range), then select one of the following options:
- the past hour
- the past day
- the past week
- the last 4 weeks
- the beginning of time



Click CLEAR BROWSING DATA at the bottom-right corner of the window to delete Google Chrome browsing history on your computer.
Chrome on Mobile

Launch the Google Chrome app by tapping its icon, which features a red, green, yellow, and blue sphere.

Tap the ⋮ icon at the top-right corner of the screen to open the options menu.

Select History from the options menu.

Tap Clear Browsing Data… at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Check the box next to Browsing History to ensure this data will be deleted.

Tap Clear Browsing Data at the bottom of the screen.

Firefox on Desktop

Open Firefox by clicking its icon, which features an orange fox wrapped around a blue globe.

Click the ☰ icon at the top-right corner of the window to open the options menu.

Select Clear Recent History… at the top of the History menu to open a new window.

Choose the time range for which you want to delete data. Click the dropdown menu next to "Time range to clear," then select one of the following options:
- Last Hour
- Last Two Hours
- Last Four Hours
- Today
- Everything

Click Clear Now at the bottom of the window to delete Firefox browsing history on your computer.
Firefox on Mobile

Open the Firefox app by tapping its icon, which features an orange fox wrapped around a blue globe.

Tap ☰ at the bottom of the screen (on iPhone) or ⋮ at the top-right corner (on Android) to open the options menu.

Select Settings near the bottom of the menu.
Scroll down and choose Clear Private Data near the bottom of the page.



Select Clear Private Data at the bottom of the screen.

Tap OK when prompted to delete Firefox browsing history on your phone.
Microsoft Edge

Open Microsoft Edge by clicking its icon, which features a dark blue letter "e".

Click the ⋯ icon at the top-right corner of the page to open the options menu.

Click on Settings near the bottom of the options menu.

Select Choose what to clear under the "Clear browsing data" section.

Check the box next to Browsing History to delete your browsing data.

Click Clear under the History section to delete Edge browsing history.
Internet Explorer

Open Internet Explorer, which has a light blue "e" icon with a yellow ribbon around it.



Click on Internet options near the bottom of the list to open the Internet Options window.

Click Delete… under the "Browsing history" section near the bottom of the window.

Ensure the "History" box is checked. If the "History" option isn't selected, click the box to the left of it.

Select Delete at the bottom of the window.

Click Apply, then select OK. This will confirm the changes and delete Internet Explorer browsing history on your computer.
Safari on Desktop

Open Safari by clicking its blue compass icon in the Mac's Dock.

Click the Safari menu at the top-left corner of the screen to open the options list.

Select Clear History… near the top of the Safari menu.

Select the time range for which you want to delete data. Click the dropdown next to the "Clear" button, then choose one of the following options:
- the last hour
- today
- today and yesterday
- all history

Click Clear History at the bottom of the window to delete Safari browsing history on your computer.
Safari on Mobile



Scroll down to near the bottom of the page and select Safari.

Scroll down and choose Clear History and Website Data near the bottom of the Safari page.

Select Clear History and Data when prompted. This will delete Safari browsing history on your phone.
Tips
- Clearing browsing data every few weeks can help your browser run more smoothly.
Warning
- You cannot recover browsing history once it has been deleted.
