Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of connecting a DVD player to a Samsung TV. You can link your DVD player to the TV using an HDMI cable, composite AV cables (RCA connectors), component cables, or S-Video cables. Before purchasing a DVD or Blu-ray player, ensure your Samsung TV supports the desired connection type. Once connected, select the appropriate source or input on your TV to view the DVD player's content.
Steps

Connect the cables to the back of the DVD player. The type of cable used may vary depending on when the device was manufactured. Below is a list of four cable types commonly used to connect a DVD player to a TV.
- HDMI: HDMI cables are the most common high-definition (HD) connection for modern TVs. This cable connects to the single "HDMI" port on the DVD player. The HDMI connector fits snugly into the HDMI port on both the DVD player and the TV.
- Component: Component cables typically support HD video. These cables have five color-coded connectors. Red, green, and blue are for video, while separate red and white cables handle audio. Simply plug each cable into the corresponding colored port on the back of the DVD player.
- Composite: Composite cables (often called "AV" or "RCA") are an older format that only supports standard-definition (SD) video. Unlike component cables, composite cables have a single yellow video connector alongside red and white audio connectors. Insert the yellow cable into the yellow port on the DVD player, followed by the red and white cables into their respective ports.
- S-Video: S-Video is an older format that doesn’t support HD video but offers better SD quality than composite cables. S-Video cables have four pins and a small tab. Ensure the pins align with the holes in the S-Video port on the DVD player. Additionally, you’ll need to connect red and white composite audio cables since S-Video doesn’t transmit audio.
- Many modern TVs no longer support S-Video.

Connect the cables to the back of the TV. Depending on the cable type, plug the other end into the corresponding port labeled "HDMI" on your Samsung TV. Component and composite cables should be inserted into the color-coded ports on the TV. S-Video cables connect to the S-Video port by aligning the pins with the holes.
- Some newer TVs have shared component/composite ports. If using composite cables with such a port, connect the yellow video cable to the green port on the TV.

Plug in the DVD player and turn it on. Ensure there is an available power outlet near the TV for the DVD player's power cord. If not, you can use an extension cord to connect to a nearby outlet.

Select the input source on the TV. Each port on the back of the TV corresponds to an input source. Press the Source button on the TV remote to cycle through the inputs until you find the one connected to the DVD player. Most DVD and Blu-ray players display a startup screen on the TV once the correct input is selected.
