Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of linking your PC to a TV using an HDMI cable. By connecting your PC to your TV, you can mirror your computer screen onto the TV, enabling you to watch movies or browse the internet on a larger display. All you need is an HDMI cable to bridge the two devices.
Steps
Connecting a PC to a TV

Connect the HDMI cable to your PC. The HDMI port is typically located on the back of a desktop CPU or on the side of a laptop keyboard.
- Some PCs may use a standard HDMI port, while others might require a mini HDMI or MiniDisplay port.
- For mini HDMI or MiniDisplay cables, one end will have a mini HDMI or MiniDisplay connector for the computer, while the other end will feature a standard-sized HDMI cable.
- Not all computers come with an HDMI port. Older models might use VGA or DVI cables. You can connect these to your TV's HDMI port using an adapter and a separate audio cable. If your laptop lacks HDMI or video output, consider purchasing a USB-to-HDMI converter. Additional software installation on your PC might be necessary.

Plug one end of the cable into the TV. Locate an available HDMI port on your TV and insert one end of the cable. These ports are usually labeled "HDMI" and numbered.
- Make a note of the HDMI port you are using.
- Ensure the HDMI cable is long enough to connect your PC to the TV. Measure the distance if necessary.

Use the TV remote to select the HDMI source on the TV. Look for a button labeled "Source," "Input," or something similar on the TV or remote. Press it to choose the HDMI port where your PC is connected.
- After connecting the PC and TV, the TV might automatically display the computer screen. If nothing appears, use Method 2 to detect the TV on Windows 10.
- Use the numbered labels on the HDMI ports to identify the correct source.
Detecting the TV on Windows

Click on System. This option is located next to the laptop icon at the top of the Windows Settings menu.

Click on Display. This is the first option in the left-hand sidebar menu. The Display settings will appear.

Scroll down and click on Detect. This option is located at the bottom of the Display Settings menu. Windows will detect all connected displays.
- Adjust the resolution if necessary for better display on your TV. For HDTVs, select 1920 x 1080 from the "Resolution" dropdown menu. For 4K TVs, the appropriate resolution is 3840 x 2160 or the highest available in the "Resolution" menu.
Tips
- If sound is playing through your computer or laptop speakers instead of the TV, open the Control Panel, select Sound, and look for the TV under the playback tab. If the TV isn’t listed, right-click on the blank area and choose Show Disabled Devices.
