Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of setting up a Vizio soundbar (a bar-shaped speaker) and connecting it to your TV. You can use various types of cables, including digital optical cables, coaxial cables, RCA cables, and HDMI cables, with HDMI being the most commonly recommended option. Some soundbars also feature Bluetooth functionality, allowing for wireless connectivity.
Steps
Use an SPDIF Cable

Unbox the Vizio soundbar. Remove the soundbar from the box and check to ensure you have all necessary cables, screws, wall mounts, and the instruction manual inside the box.

Remove the protective plastic cap from each end of the SPDIF cable. This will allow you to securely connect the cable to both the TV and the soundbar.
- SPDIF cables, also known as Toslink or optical cables, must be the correct type for your setup.

Plug one end of the cable into the "OPTICAL" port on the back of the TV. The optical port usually has a plastic cover to prevent dust from entering. Make sure the cable is firmly inserted for a stable connection.

Connect the other end of the cable to the "OPTICAL" port on the soundbar. This port is identical to the one on the TV.

Ensure the soundbar is powered on. Plug the power cable into an outlet and press the Power button to turn the soundbar on.

Select the appropriate input channel on the soundbar's remote control. Press the Input button on the remote and use the arrow keys to choose Optical, Toslink, or SPDIF.

Press the menu button on the soundbar's remote control. The VIZIO menu will appear on the TV screen.

Select Audio from the menu. The soundbar's audio settings will appear.

Switch the TV Speakers toggle to Off. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select and disable the TV Speakers option.
- This step prevents echo effects caused by sound coming from multiple sources.

Change the Digital Audio Out setting to Bitstream or Dolby Digital. This option can be found in the Audio menu, and you can use the arrow keys to select the appropriate setting.
Use an RCA cable

Unbox the Vizio soundbar. Carefully remove the soundbar from its box and ensure that all the necessary items are present, including cables, screws, mounting brackets, and the instruction manual.

Locate the red and white RCA audio cables. These cables are essential for setting up an analog audio connection.

Find the "AUDIO OUT" port on the back of your TV. This port is marked as Audio Out and features two connectors in red and white.

Insert the red and white cables into the correct ports. Ensure that the red RCA cable goes into the red port and the white RCA cable into the white port.

Connect the other end of the cables to the "AUDIO IN" or "AUX" red and white ports on the soundbar. This establishes the analog audio connection between the TV and the soundbar.

Ensure that the soundbar is powered on. Plug the device's power cable into an electrical outlet and press the Power button to turn the soundbar on.

Select "AUX" as the input method on the soundbar remote. Press the Input button on the remote and use the arrow keys to choose the AUX channel.

Press the menu button on the soundbar remote. The VIZIO menu will appear on your TV screen.

Select Audio from the menu. The soundbar’s audio settings will be displayed.

Switch the TV Speakers setting to Off. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select and disable the TV Speakers function.
- This step helps prevent audio echo caused by sound coming from multiple sources.

Change the Analog Audio Out setting to Fixed or Variable. You can switch between these two options based on your personal preferences.
- With the Variable option, the soundbar's volume will adjust automatically as you change the TV's volume.
- If you choose Fixed, the soundbar's volume will remain constant and can only be adjusted separately.
Use the HDMI ARC cable

Unbox the Vizio soundbar. Remove the soundbar from the box and ensure that you have all necessary cables, screws, mounting brackets, and the instruction manual included.

Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT (ARC) port on the soundbar. This is the first step to setting up the audio connection via HDMI cable.

Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI 1 (ARC) port at the back of the TV. This will allow the TV to send audio signals to the soundbar through the HDMI connection.

Connect the speaker to a power source. Plug the power cable into the Power port at the back of the soundbar, then connect it to a power outlet.

Use the remote to select 'HDMI' as the input source. Press the Input button on the remote and navigate using the arrow keys to select HDMI.
Utilize Bluetooth

Unbox the Vizio soundbar. Remove the soundbar from the box and ensure all cables, screws, mounting brackets, and the manual are present.

Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the side of the soundbar to enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
- Alternatively, you can press the Bluetooth button on the remote.
- If your VIZIO remote has an LED display, press MENU and find the BT Pair option in the settings menu.

Ensure that the Bluetooth feature on your TV is enabled and discoverable. We will use the Bluetooth menu on the TV to pair with the soundbar.

Select the soundbar from the TV's Bluetooth connection menu. The Bluetooth connection menu may vary slightly depending on the model, but generally, you just need to choose the soundbar from the list of discoverable Bluetooth devices on the TV.
Warning
- If you're unsure about the ports on the back of your TV, consult the accompanying manual or user guide before proceeding.
Tip
- Place the soundbar at ear level. For an optimal surround sound experience, it’s best to position the soundbar below the TV and close to ear height.
