Today, Mytour will show you how to pair wireless Bluetooth headphones with your Nintendo Switch console. Although the Switch doesn’t allow users to connect headphones directly, you can use wireless headphones with a USB dongle adapter that supports USB-C. If your headphones don’t come with a dongle, you can use a Bluetooth transmitter with an audio input port.
Steps
Use the USB dongle in mobile mode

Prepare a USB-to-USB-C adapter. Unless your wireless headphones support a USB-C connection, you’ll need to buy a USB-to-USB-C adapter for mobile use. You can find these adapters at technology or electronics stores, as well as popular online marketplaces.
- Some wireless headphones come with a USB-C adapter. If you’re unsure, check the product documentation.

Attach the Joy-Con controllers to your Nintendo Switch. If you haven't done so yet, slide each controller onto its corresponding side of the Switch.
- The controller with the "-" button fits on the left, while the one with the "+" button goes on the right.

Press the power button on the Switch. This button is located on the top edge, next to the volume controls. You can also power on the Switch by pressing the Home button on the right Joy-Con controller.

Connect the USB-to-USB-C adapter to the Switch. This port is located on the bottom edge of the Switch.

Turn on your headphones. Typically, you can press the power button found somewhere on the device.
- If your headphones require pairing with the dongle, follow the instructions provided. This often involves pressing a button on either the headphones or the dongle.

Plug the USB dongle from your headphones into the adapter. The dongle that comes with your headphones will have a USB port that fits into the USB slot on the adapter. Once the Switch detects the wireless headphones, a USB prompt will appear at the top-left corner of the screen, indicating that audio from the Switch is now routed through the headphones.

Connect the USB dongle to the charging dock. There are two USB ports on the left side of the dock and one inside the back cover. Currently, the Switch supports audio through the USB port, so you can connect the dongle to any available port.

Turn on the headphones. Typically, you can press the power button located somewhere on the device. After turning on the headphones, a USB volume control prompt will appear near the top-right corner of the screen. Once you see this notification, the audio from the Switch will begin playing through the headphones.
- If the headphones require pairing with the dongle, follow the instructions that come with the headphones. This often involves pressing a button on either the headphones or the dongle.
Use a Bluetooth transmitter with an audio input jack

Prepare a Bluetooth transmitter with an audio input jack. If the wireless headphones don’t come with a USB dongle, you can still use a Bluetooth transmitter with an audio jack to connect to the Switch. You can link this type of device to the Switch using a mm AUX cable, then pair the headphones with the transmitter.
- Click here to see a list of headphones compatible with the Switch, as well as those that definitely won’t work.
- This method works whether the Switch is docked or in handheld mode.
- Many transmitters come with the mm to mm cable you need. If your transmitter doesn’t have one, you can buy it from electronics or technology stores.

Power on the Switch. Press the button with the home icon on the right Joy-Con controller, or press the power button on the top edge of the device (near the volume buttons) to turn it on.

Connect the Bluetooth transmitter to the Switch. To do this, plug one end of the mm cable into the port on the transmitter, and the other end into the headphone jack located on the top of the Switch console.

Put the Bluetooth transmitter into pairing mode. This process can vary depending on the model, but it's generally straightforward. You simply press the pairing button and wait for the light to start flashing.
- Refer to the transmitter's manual if you're unsure how to enable pairing mode.

Turn on the headphones. Usually, you can do this by pressing the power button located somewhere on the device.

Connect the headphones to the Bluetooth transmitter. As long as the headphones are within range of the Bluetooth transmitter, the two devices should connect automatically. Some models might require you to press the pairing button. Check the instructions included with the headphones to ensure proper connection. Once the connection is established, you'll be able to hear audio from the Switch through the headphones.
- You can usually tell the devices are paired when the lights on both the transmitter and headphones stop flashing.
