This Mytour article will guide you through the process of connecting your iPhone to your desktop computer. It will help you sync or back up with iTunes or transfer photos and other data.
Steps
Connect via USB port

Connect your iPhone to the desktop computer. Use the USB cable that came with your device.

Open iTunes. This is the application with the music note icon.
- iTunes may launch automatically when you connect your iPhone.

Click on the iPhone icon. This icon will appear at the top-left corner of the iTunes window.

Click on the Back Up Now button. Do this if you want to create a backup of your iPhone's data on your desktop computer.

Select the content to sync. To do this, click on the content section in the left pane of the window, then check or uncheck the Sync [content] option at the top of the right pane.

Click the Apply button. This button is located at the bottom-right corner of the window. Clicking it will save the synchronization options you just selected.

Click the Sync button. This button is located at the bottom-right corner of the window. The synchronization process will begin.
- Check the option "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" in the "Options" section to sync your iPhone automatically whenever it’s connected to the desktop computer.
Connect via Wireless Network (Wi-Fi)

Connect your iPhone to your desktop computer. Use the USB cable that came with your device.

Open iTunes. This is the application with the music note icon.
- iTunes may launch automatically when you connect your iPhone.

Click on the iPhone icon. This icon will appear at the top-left corner of the iTunes window.

Navigate to the "Options" section. This is the final option on the right-hand panel of the iTunes window.

Select "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi". This dialog box is located on the left side of the right panel in the iTunes window.

Click the Apply button. This button is located in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes window.
- Wait for your iPhone to sync to ensure the changes take effect.

Disconnect your iPhone from the desktop computer.

Open your iPhone's Settings. This is the gray application with a gear icon (⚙️), usually located on the phone's home screen.

Tap the Wi-Fi button. This button is located towards the top of the menu.

Tap on the wireless network. Your iPhone and computer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Press the Settings button. This button is located at the top left corner of your screen.

Scroll down and tap the General button. This button is positioned next to the gray gear icon (⚙️) at the top of the menu.

Tap the iTunes Wi-Fi Sync button. This button can be found near the bottom of the menu.
- If several desktop computers are listed, select the one you wish to sync with.
- Ensure that iTunes is open on the computer.

Tap the Sync Now button. Your iPhone will sync with your computer via wireless connection.
Connect to your Mac computer using AirDrop

Click on the Finder icon on your Mac. It’s the blue and light blue smiling face icon, typically found in the Dock. This will open the Finder window on your desktop.
- Bluetooth must be enabled on both devices for an AirDrop connection.

Click on the AirDrop button. It’s located in the “Favorites” section of the toolbar on the left side of the Finder window.
- AirDrop is an efficient way to transfer photos, documents, and other files between nearby devices (within a few meters).

Click on the "Allow me to be discovered by" option. This option is located at the bottom of the Finder window. A dropdown menu will appear.

Tap on Everyone (Everyone).

Swipe up from the Home screen of your iPhone. The Control Center will appear.

Tap on AirDrop:. This button is located on the right side of the Control Center. When you tap it, a receiving status will appear, such as: "Everyone" (Everyone), "Contacts Only" (Contacts Only), or "Receiving Off" (Receiving Off).

Tap on Everyone. Now you can send and receive data between your iPhone and your desktop computer.

Choose the file you want to share. Perform this action on both devices.
- Files or pages created or stored within Apple apps such as Photos, Notes, Contacts, Calendar, and Safari are usually shareable through AirDrop. Many third-party apps also support AirDrop.

Tap or click the "Share" icon. Look for the square icon with an upward-pointing arrow.

Tap or click on AirDrop. This button is near the top of the "Share" dialog.

Tap or click on the name of the receiving device. Do the same on the sending device.
- If you don’t see your Mac or iPhone, ensure the devices are close to each other (within a few meters) and that AirDrop is enabled.
- If prompted to turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, follow the instructions.

Tap or click the Save button on the receiving device. A copy of the file will be saved to the device.
- Tap or click Open and Save to view the files you’ve saved.
