This guide on Mytour will demonstrate how to convert a Notepad (.txt) file into a Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) document on Windows 10.
Steps

Open Microsoft Excel. A quick way to open Microsoft Excel is by typing excel in the Windows search bar and clicking on Microsoft Excel.

Click the File (File) menu. This option is located in the upper-left corner of Excel.

Click Open (Open).

Select Text files (Text files) from the dropdown menu.

Select the text file you wish to convert and click Open (Open). This will launch the Text Import Wizard.

Choose the data type and click Next (Next). In the 'Original data type' section, select Delimited (if the text file contains data separated by commas, tabs, or other delimiters) or Fixed width (if the data is aligned in columns with spaces separating each field).

Select the delimiter or field width and click Next (Next).
- If you chose Delimited, check the box next to the separator symbol (or 'Space' if it is separated by spaces) used to divide the data fields.
- If you selected Fixed width, follow the on-screen instructions to correctly format the data.

Choose the column data format. Select the option in the 'Column data format' that best describes the data in each column (for example: Text, Date).
Click Finish (Finish). The 'Save As' window will appear.

Select Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) (Excel Workbook) from the 'Save As' menu. This option is located at the bottom of the window.

Enter a name for the file and click Save (Save). The Notepad file is now saved as an Excel workbook.
