This article will show you how to copy content from Facebook and paste it into different input fields on Facebook or elsewhere. You can also reverse the process by copying content from an external source and pasting it on Facebook. The copy-paste function works both on the mobile version of Facebook and on the website.
Steps
On Mobile

Open Facebook by tapping on the app with the white 'f' icon on a dark blue background. This will open the News Feed, provided you're already logged into Facebook.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password before proceeding.

Find the content you want to copy. Scroll through Facebook until you find the status or comment you'd like to copy, then tap on that content. While images and videos cannot be copied, any text that appears can be.
- If you want to copy something from another page, access it from a web browser on your phone or tablet, then follow these steps.

Tap and hold the text you want to copy. After a few seconds, the selected content will be highlighted, and a menu will appear.

Tap the Copy option in the menu to copy the selected text.
- On Android, choose Copy text from the options.

Go to the location where you want to paste the copied content. If you want to paste the copied content on Facebook, find the appropriate comment section or status box to paste it into.
- If you copied the content from another page, open Facebook at this point.

Tap and hold the text input field to open the menu.

Click on Paste in the menu. The copied content will appear in the selected input field.
- If you paste the content elsewhere, the menu you see may differ slightly. In that case, just locate and select Paste.
On a computer

Open Facebook by navigating to https://www.facebook.com/ through your web browser. This will direct you to your News Feed (the main page), provided you are logged into Facebook.
- If you’re not logged in, enter your email (or phone number) and password before proceeding.

Find the content you wish to copy. Look for the status update or comment you want to duplicate.
- If you need to copy content from an external website or source, feel free to visit that site instead.

Select the content by clicking and dragging your mouse from the beginning to the end of the text you want to copy. The content will be highlighted as you click and drag your mouse.

Copy content. To copy the selected content, press the Ctrl and C keys (or ⌘ Command and C on Mac) at the same time to copy the selected content.
- You can also right-click on the content and select Copy... from the displayed menu.

Go to the place where you want to paste the copied content. Find the input field (such as the comment box or status update box) where you want to paste the content on Facebook.
- If you wish to paste the content elsewhere, such as in an email, go to the website, app, or document where you intend to paste it.

Click on the input field to place the cursor there.

Paste the content. Make sure the cursor is positioned in the input field, then press Ctrl+V (or ⌘ Command+V on Mac) to paste the content. You will see the copied content appear in the input field.
- As with copying, you can right-click in the input field and choose Paste from the menu.
- On a Mac, you can click Edit at the top of the screen and then select Paste from the displayed menu.
Tip
- If you wish to copy the entire article, video, or image from another website, you should look for the Share option. For content posted on Facebook, you can click Share beneath the post and then select Share Now.
Warning
- Copying someone else's work without proper attribution is considered plagiarism, an act that is widely condemned. Always ensure to credit the source when copying someone else's content.
