Today, Mytour will guide you through the process of creating an event banner (or banner/flag) using Microsoft Word on either Windows or Mac. You can either use a pre-made template or get creative and design one from scratch.
Steps

Open Microsoft Word. The app features a dark blue icon with a white "W" inside.

Click the search bar at the top of the Word window.
- On Mac, you first need to click File in the top left corner, then select New from Template… from the dropdown menu.

Type banner in the search bar and press ↵ Enter. The banner template will be retrieved from Microsoft's template database.

Select a banner template. Click on the template you want to use based on the preview image. The template page will open.
- Choose a banner design you like rather than one that matches the event theme, since you can later modify the text on it.

Click on Create (Create). This option is located to the right of the template preview. The template will then open in Microsoft Word.

Edit the banner's content. Replace the text on each page with the content you want for your banner.
- You can also change the colors and fonts by clicking on Home, selecting the text you want to edit, then choosing the desired option from the "Font" section on the toolbar.

Change the banner's font. In the "Font" section of the toolbar, you need to adjust the following aspects of the text on your banner:
- Size - Click the number in this section, then enter a number of 300 or greater and press ↵ Enter.
- Font - Click the font name box (e.g., Calibri), then select your preferred font.
- Color - Click the down arrow next to the "A" button with the color bar underneath, then pick the color you wish to use.

Upload a background image by following these steps:
- Click on the Design tab.
- Click Watermark.
- Click on Custom Watermark....
- Select "Picture watermark" and then click Select Picture....
- Choose an image (on Windows, you must first click on On My Computer).
- Click the "Scale" dropdown and select a scaling option.
- Click OK.

Save your banner by following these steps:
- On Windows - Click File, then choose Save As, double-click This PC, select the location on the left side of the window, enter a name for the banner file in the "File name" box, then click Save.
- On Mac - Click File, then choose Save As..., enter a name for the banner in the "Save As" field, click the "Where" box to choose a folder, then click Save.
Tips
- You can use various fonts to highlight specific words or phrases and grab attention.
- If you're creating a banner from scratch, use a bold background, as watermark images will fade into the picture.
Warning
- Sometimes, certain printers may cut off text on one side of the banner. To fix this, increase the margins when selecting print settings.
