A love bite occurs when strong suction or biting ruptures the blood vessels beneath the skin. While most people aim to remove love bites, if you wish to create one, there are several methods to either genuinely bruise the skin or simply mimic the appearance of a love bite.
Steps
Create a Fake Love Bite Using a Plastic Bottle

Choose the location for the love bite. Love bites typically appear on the neck, but they can also be left around the chest area.
- If you want to create a love bite on the neck, select a spot on the side of the neck, avoiding the area directly under the chin or the center of the neck (above or around the esophagus). A love bite on the side of the neck will look more realistic.

Prepare a 2-liter plastic bottle. The bottle will serve as the tool to create the love bite. Place the bottle between your hands and squeeze the middle section firmly.
- When preparing to create the love bite, stand in front of a mirror to observe your actions clearly.

Press the bottle opening onto your skin. After squeezing the middle of the bottle, place the bottle's opening on the area where you want the love bite to appear. Ensure the opening is tightly sealed against your skin to create suction. Hold it in place for about 15 seconds, then remove the bottle.
- Note that the less air inside the bottle (the harder you squeeze), the stronger the suction will be. Stronger suction results in a quicker and more noticeable love bite.

Expand the love bite. Since the bottle opening is round, you can shift the bottle about 1 or 2 cm to create another mark. The second mark doesn’t need to be as dark as the first, so you can squeeze the bottle more gently or hold it for a shorter duration.
- Since human mouths are oval-shaped, expanding the fake love bite will make it appear more realistic.
Create a Fake Love Bite Using Eyeshadow

Choose the location for the love bite. Love bites can appear anywhere on the body, but they are most commonly found on the neck or chest.
- If creating a love bite on the neck, choose a spot on the side, avoiding the center of the neck, near the throat, or under the chin.

Prepare an eyeshadow palette. You’ll need a palette with a variety of shades. The colors you’ll use include deep pink, dark purple, and navy blue.
- Use a small makeup brush to apply the eyeshadow.
- Note that if you have darker skin, you’ll need to use deeper shades and apply them more heavily to create the love bite.

Apply the pink eyeshadow. Lightly dip the makeup brush into the pink eyeshadow once or twice, then stand in front of a mirror to apply it to your skin. Gently brush the area where you want the love bite, using small oval motions about 1.5 to 2.5 cm in size.
- Avoid picking up too much eyeshadow on the brush. Build the color slowly and gradually.

Add the purple eyeshadow. Dip the corner of the brush into the purple eyeshadow once and apply it to the center of the love bite area. Continue blending with small oval motions, spreading the purple shade outward from the center.
- If you’re unsure, use less of the darker shade. You can always add more later, as dark colors are harder to remove once applied.

Add the navy blue eyeshadow. Dip the corner of the brush into the navy blue eyeshadow and apply it to the center of the love bite. Blend gently with small oval motions, spreading the navy blue shade outward toward the edges.
- Since the love bite is already quite visible after applying the purple, you don’t need too much navy blue. Lightly tap the brush against your finger or a flat surface to remove excess product.

Set the makeup. Spray a thin layer of hairspray or makeup setting spray to help the love bite last longer and prevent it from smudging onto clothing. The fake love bite will stay on your skin until you wash it off.
Create a Fake Love Bite Using Alcohol-Based Makeup

Choose the location for the love bite. You can create a love bite anywhere on the body, though they are most commonly seen on the neck and chest.

Prepare the alcohol-based makeup. Alcohol-based makeup is often used in film and theater because it is sweat-resistant and long-lasting.
- You can also use cream-based makeup, but it tends to fade faster and may smudge due to body heat.

Pour a small amount of alcohol into a mixing tray. Open the alcohol-based makeup bottle, cover the opening with a cotton pad, tip it upside down for a second, and then turn it upright. Squeeze the cotton pad to let the alcohol flow into the tray.
- Dip a makeup sponge into the alcohol to moisten and activate the color.

Dab the makeup sponge into the alcohol. Press one edge of the sponge into the alcohol, then gently squeeze to spread it evenly. Tap the alcohol-soaked edge onto a tissue to remove excess liquid.
- Remember to stand in front of a mirror while preparing to create the fake love bite.

Apply the first layer of color. Lightly dab the makeup sponge into the red color. Gently press the edge of the sponge onto your skin to create a small oval shape about 1.5 to 2.5 cm wide.
- Repeat the dabbing motion multiple times. The dotted application will make the love bite look more natural and realistic.

Apply the second layer of color. Use the same sponge to dab into the dark navy blue color. Mixing red with navy blue will create a purple shade that closely resembles a bruise. Lightly dab the sponge onto the center of the love bite to mimic broken blood vessels.
- To blend the colors seamlessly, dip the sponge into the alcohol, remove excess liquid with a tissue, and then dab it onto the fake love bite to merge the colors.
Warnings
- Remember that creating a fake love bite is essentially creating a bruise on your body. Avoid leaving the bottle suctioned on your skin for too long, as it may cause pain and an unsightly mark.
