This guide will show you various methods to create a heart icon on Facebook. You can send a heart icon by reacting with a 'heart' to posts or comments, inserting a pre-existing heart symbol into text, or selecting a heart-themed background for new posts.
Steps
React with a 'heart' to posts or comments
Open Facebook on your computer, phone, or tablet. You can access Facebook via a web browser at https://www.facebook.com or use the mobile app.
Locate the post or comment you wish to react to with a heart. You can express your emotions using the heart icon and 'heart' react to any post or comment.
- Reacting with a heart will increase the heart count below the post or comment.
Hover your cursor over the Like button below the post or comment. When you hover over it, your reaction options will appear.
- If you're using the mobile app on a phone or tablet, press and hold the Like button.
Click on the heart icon that appears. This action will 'heart' react to the selected post or comment with the heart icon displayed below it.
Insert a heart symbol
Open Facebook on your computer, phone, or tablet. You can access Facebook via a web browser at https://www.facebook.com or use the mobile app.
Click or tap on the text input field you wish to edit. You can create a new post from the box at the top of the News Feed or click on any text input field, such as the comment box.
Type <3 into the text input field. This action will generate the familiar red heart symbol when you post the text.
Click or tap on the smiley face icon to open the available emoji library.
- If you're using a desktop browser, click the smiley face icon at the bottom right of the input box.
- If using a mobile app, tap the smiley face icon at the bottom corner of the keyboard.
Find and select the heart symbol you want to insert. The chosen heart will then appear in your post.
- You can also copy and paste one of the following hearts:
- Beating heart: 💓
- Broken heart: 💔
- Sparkling heart: 💖
- Growing heart: 💗
- Heart with arrow: 💘
- Blue heart: 💙
- Green heart: 💚
- Yellow heart: 💛
- Red heart: ❤️
- Purple heart: 💜
- Heart with ribbon: 💝
Select a background for your post
Open Facebook on your computer, phone, or tablet. You can access Facebook via a web browser at https://www.facebook.com or use the mobile app.
Click or tap on the What's on your mind? (What are you thinking?) field at the top of the page. This is the box displayed above the News Feed where you can create a new post.
Select a heart-themed background. You will see icons for available themes below the text input field. Tap on an icon to choose a theme.
