How to Create a Hotmail Account

Although Hotmail still has a large user base, creating new Hotmail accounts is no longer possible. However, Microsoft Outlook accounts offer a similar experience and provide the same email services that made Hotmail popular. This article will guide you through the process of creating a Microsoft Outlook email account. Please note, you can only create a Microsoft Outlook account through the Outlook website, as this feature is not available on the mobile version of the Outlook app.

Go to the Microsoft Outlook website. Visit https://www.outlook.com/ in your web browser.

Create an email address. Type the desired name for your email in the "New email" field in the center of the page.

• You can select the domain for your email address (such as @outlook.com or @hotmail.com) by clicking the downward arrow next to the "New email" field and choosing the domain you wish to use from the list displayed.

Enter your password. Type the password you want to use in the "Create password" field below the "New email" field.

• Make sure your password includes both letters and numbers.

Uncheck the box for "Send me promotional emails from Microsoft". If you do not want to receive product promotions from Microsoft, simply uncheck this box to prevent your name from being added to the promotional email list.

• If you would like to receive promotional emails, you can skip this step.

Click on the Next button. This is the blue button located below the "Create password" field.

Enter your first and last name. Type your first name in the "First name" field and your last name in the "Last name" field.

Select a country or region. Click on the 'Country/region' list, then choose your current location.

• Outlook often automatically detects and fills in this information for you.

Enter your birthdate. In the 'Birthdate' section, click on the Month field and choose your birth month, then do the same for the Day and Year fields.

Enter the verification code. A box will appear showing a string of letters and numbers in the center of the page; enter these characters in the 'Enter the characters you see' field.

• You can click on the New button to get a new code.
• You can also click the Audio button to have the code read aloud.

Click the blue Next (Continue) button at the bottom of the window. After entering the correct verification code, click Next to create your account and proceed to the Outlook setup guide.
