This article provides a detailed guide on creating a playlist on YouTube and adding videos to it. Whether you're using the mobile app or the desktop version, these instructions will help you get started.
Steps
On Mobile

Launch YouTube. Tap on the app featuring the YouTube logo. This will open your YouTube homepage if you're already logged in.
- If you're not logged in, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to proceed.

Tap on the "Search" icon. This is the magnifying glass symbol located at the top-right corner of the screen.
Search for a video. Enter the name of the video you want to add to your playlist, then tap on the video title from the list displayed below the search bar. This will show you relevant search results on YouTube.

Select the video. Tap on the video you wish to add to your playlist. The video will start playing immediately after this action.

Tap on Add to with the + icon at the bottom-right corner of the video window to open the menu.

Tap on Create new playlist at the top of the menu. This will open the "Create playlist" dialog.
Enter the playlist name. Name your playlist in the field at the top of the dialog box.

Set the playlist privacy. Tap on Public to allow everyone to see the playlist on your channel, Unlisted to hide it from those without the direct link, or Private to ensure only you can view it.
- On Android, you can only select Private by tapping the box to the left of the option. Leaving it unchecked will make the playlist public.

Tap on ✓ at the top-right corner of the screen to create the playlist.
- On Android, you will select OK.

Add videos to the playlist. Navigate to another video, choose Add to below the video, and tap on the playlist name in the menu. The video will automatically be added to your playlist.
On Desktop

Open YouTube by visiting https://www.youtube.com/. This will take you to your YouTube homepage if you're already logged in.
- If you're not logged in, click on SIGN IN at the top-right corner of the window, then enter your email address and password.

Click on the search bar at the top of the YouTube page.

Search for a video. Enter the name of the video and press ↵ Enter. This will display YouTube videos that match your search query.

Select the video. Click on the video you want to add to your playlist. The video will start playing immediately after this action.

Click on the "Add to" button with the + icon at the bottom-right corner of the video window to open the menu.

Click on Create new playlist at the bottom of the displayed menu. The new playlist creation dialog will open directly within this menu.

Name your playlist. Click on the "Name" field and enter the desired title for your playlist.

Set the privacy settings for the playlist. Click on the "Privacy" dropdown menu and choose one of the following options:
- Public - Anyone visiting your channel can view the playlist.
- Unlisted - Your playlist won't appear on your channel, but you can share the link with others to grant access.
- Private - Only you can view the playlist.


Click the red CREATE button at the bottom-right corner of the menu to create and save the playlist to your profile.

Add videos to the playlist. Navigate to another video, click the "Add to" icon below the video, and check the box next to the playlist name. This will add the video to your playlist.
Tips
- You can access your playlists in the Library tab at the bottom of the screen (on mobile) or the "LIBRARY" section on the left side of the homepage (on desktop).
Warnings
- Be mindful of your playlist's privacy settings. It can be embarrassing if private videos are saved to a public playlist.
