How to Create a Yahoo Account

This article will guide you through all the necessary steps to set up a Yahoo Mail account. You can follow these instructions on both the desktop and mobile versions of Yahoo Mail.

Open Yahoo. Visit https://www.yahoo.com/ through your browser to access Yahoo's homepage.

Click on the Sign in (Log in) located at the top right corner of the page, next to the bell icon.

Click on the Sign up (Register). This link appears next to the phrase "Don't have an account?" (No account?) at the bottom right corner of the page.

Enter your account details. You will need to provide the following information:

• First name
• Last name
• Email address - type in the name you want to use for your Yahoo email address. If the email address you choose is already taken, you will need to select another one.
• Password
• Mobile phone number - If you do not have a mobile phone number, you cannot create a Yahoo account.
• Birthday (including day, month, and year of birth)
• You can also add your gender in the "Gender" field (if desired).

Click on the Continue (Continue) blue button at the bottom of the page.

• If you have not filled in all the required information or if the chosen username is invalid, you will not be able to proceed until you complete the necessary fields or select a unique username.

Click on the Text me an Account Key (Receive Account Key via SMS) blue button in the middle of the page. This will prompt Yahoo to send a code to the phone number you entered earlier.

• You can also choose Call me with an Account Key (Receive Account Key via call) to have Yahoo call and read the code to you.

Receive the verification code. Open the messaging app on your phone, select the message sent from Yahoo, and view the 5-digit security code within the message content.

• If you chose Call, wait for the phone to ring, then answer the call and listen for the code read aloud during the call.

Enter the code into the "Verify" field. This field is located in the center of the page, just below the heading "Enter the Account Key we sent to [your number]" (Enter the Account Key we sent to [your phone number]).

Click on the Verify (Verify) blue button located near the center of the screen.

Click on the Let's get started (Start). This action will take you to Yahoo's home page.

Click on the Mail button located below the purple envelope icon, right above the top right corner of Yahoo's homepage. This will open the Yahoo Mail inbox, ready for use.

Open Yahoo Mail. Tap on the Yahoo Mail app, which features an envelope icon and the word "YAHOO!" in white on a deep purple background.

Tap on the Yahoo Mail button in the center of the page.

Tap on the Sign up (Register) link at the bottom of the screen to access the account creation page.

Enter your account details. You will need to provide the following information:

• First name
• Last name
• Email address - type the username you want to use for your Yahoo email. If the email address you choose is already taken, you will need to select a different one.
• Password
• Mobile phone number - you must have a mobile number to create a Yahoo account.
• Date of birth (including day, month, and year)
• Gender (optional)

Click the Continue button (Continue) located at the bottom of the screen in blue.

• If any required fields are missing or the username you entered is invalid, you won't be able to proceed until the issues are fixed.

Select Text me an Account Key (Receive Account Key via text message). This option will request Yahoo to send a code to the phone number you previously entered.

• You can also choose Call me with an Account Key (Receive Account Key via call) for Yahoo to call you and read the code aloud.

Retrieve the verification code. Open your phone’s messaging app, locate the message from Yahoo, and find the 5-digit security code within the message content.

• If you selected Call (Call us), wait for the phone to ring, then answer the call to hear the code read aloud to you.

Enter the code in the "Verify" field. This field is located in the middle of the page, directly beneath the heading "Enter the Account Key we sent to [your number]" (Enter the Account Key we sent to [your phone number]).

Click on Let's get started (Start). This will take you to your ready-to-use Yahoo inbox, which has already been set up and is good to go.

• On a computer, you can access the settings of your inbox by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner of the inbox, then selecting More Settings from the dropdown menu. Mobile users can open the settings by tapping the ☰ icon located in the top left corner of the screen.

• If your computer, phone, or tablet is already signed in to a Yahoo account, you must log out before you can create your own account.
