Iron Golems are large, powerful entities tasked with protecting villagers within their communities. While they often spawn naturally in villages, most naturally generated villages are too small for them to appear. Nevertheless, you can create your own Iron Golem in any updated version of Minecraft, including the Pocket Edition (mobile version).
Steps
Create the Iron Golem

Craft Four Iron Blocks. To make an iron block, place nine iron ingots in the crafting table. The Iron Golem is crafted using four iron blocks (36 ingots).
- If you don't have enough iron, you can learn how to find it quickly.

Pick up a pumpkin. Pumpkins grow on any grass block with open air above it (but not on tall grass or snow). You can easily find pumpkins in plains biomes. You need a pumpkin (also known as a jack-o'-lantern) to create an Iron Golem.
- Only one pumpkin is needed to build a pumpkin farm and grow this crop freely. First, turn a pumpkin into four seeds in the crafting grid. Plant the seeds in a farm area next to water and place an empty dirt block for each seed. The pumpkins will grow on these empty dirt blocks.

Find an open area. The minimum size for this area is three blocks wide and three blocks tall, but the larger the space, the better. If you create the Iron Golem too close to a wall, it may get stuck in the wall and suffocate as it grows.
- Cut tall grass or flowers in the area before you begin. Sometimes, these elements can block the Iron Golem from spawning.

Place four iron blocks in a T-shape. Put one iron block on the ground. Place three more blocks adjacent to it on top to form a "T" shape. This will form the body of the Iron Golem.

Place the pumpkin (jack-o'-lantern) on top of the T-shape. Place the pumpkin on the block in the middle to create a structure resembling a plus sign. The Iron Golem will immediately appear after this action.
- The pumpkin must be placed last; otherwise, the Iron Golem will not appear.
Using the Iron Golem

Have the Iron Golem protect the village. If the Iron Golem 'senses' a nearby village, it will move closer and patrol the buildings. This protection is more than just sturdy walls and lights; you’ll see the Iron Golem handing out flowers to the villagers.
- Unlike naturally-spawned Iron Golems, the ones you create won’t attack you, even if you harm it or the villagers.

Place the Iron Golem within a fence. Build a fence if you want the newly created Iron Golem to stay in one place instead of wandering around protecting the villagers. It will also stay in place if you plant many vines around the house.

Attach a lead to the Iron Golem. You can use a lead to make the Iron Golem follow you, or to tie it to a fence (though it won’t be as effective at defending when tethered). A lead is crafted from four strings and a slimeball.
Tips
- It’s best to build the fence before creating the Iron Golem.
Warning
- If you create an Iron Golem near a wall, it may grow inside the wall, suffocate, and die.
- You must place the final block yourself for the Iron Golem to grow—no pistons allowed!
- You cannot create an Iron Golem using a crafting table.
- Although the Iron Golem you create is supposed to not attack you, some players in the Pocket Edition (mobile version) have reported a bug where the Golem attacks when injured.
