This article provides a step-by-step guide on creating multiple email accounts using Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo. You can create and link several email accounts, easily switch between them, or use alternate names to add more email addresses to a single account. Using alternate names is useful when asked to provide an email address on untrusted websites or when registering for special offers without receiving spam.
Steps
Using Aliases in Gmail

Add a "+" sign after the username in the email address. After typing the main part of your email address, insert the "+" symbol before the "@gmail.com" part of your email address.
- For example, if the Gmail address is "[email protected]", you will add the plus sign after "john.smith" and before the "@gmail.com". Example: john.smith+.

Add a keyword after the "+" sign, then type @gmail.com. You can add any word after the plus sign to create an alias. Websites and services sending emails will treat each alias as a separate email address, but all emails sent to that alias will be forwarded to your inbox.
- For example, if your Gmail address is "[email protected]", you can add +spam after your username to create a new address like [email protected].

Use a substitute email address. You can add any word or phrase after the plus sign to create an unlimited number of aliases. This allows you to create different aliases for various purposes, helping you categorize emails and avoid spam overload. For example:
- Use [email protected] for signing up for services you are unsure about.
- Use [email protected] for receiving newsletters.
- Use [email protected] for registering online shopping accounts.

Filter emails in your inbox by alias name. You can set up filters in Gmail to automatically sort emails into different folders based on alias names.

Using Aliases in Outlook

Visit Add an Alias page. Open the https://account.live.com/AddAssocId page in your web browser and sign in with your Outlook email address and password.

Enter the email address you wish to add as an alias in the text field above. This is the field with "@outlook.com" next to it.
- Ensure that "Create a new email address and add it as an alias" is selected.

Click on Add alias (Add Alias). This action will create the alias and add it to your account.

Use the substitute email address. Now you can start using the alias email address. Any email sent to this address will appear in your main Outlook inbox.
Using Aliases in Yahoo

Open Yahoo's website. Visit https://www.yahoo.com/. This will take you to Yahoo's homepage.

Open your inbox. Click on Mail at the top-right corner of the page, then enter your Yahoo email address and password when prompted.
- If you've recently logged into Yahoo, you may not need to re-enter your email and password.

Click on Settings (Settings). This option is located to the right of your Yahoo inbox and features a gear icon. A menu will appear on the screen.

Click on More Settings (More Settings). You'll find this option near the bottom of the menu.

Click on the Mailboxes tab (Mailboxes). This option is on the left side of the page.



Click on Add (Add). This option is located under the "Email alias" heading. Clicking it will open an additional form to enter your email address on the right side of the page.

Add a second email address. Click on the "Your Email" field under the heading "Create a new Yahoo Mail address", and enter the email address you'd like to use, including the domain "@yahoo.com".
- For example, if you want to create the email address "humpbackwhale", enter "[email protected]" in the "Your Email" field.
- You can include letters, numbers, underscores, and periods in the email address, but no other special characters.
- Choose an email address that you really like – you can only modify your alias name twice in a 12-month period.

Click on Set up (Settings). This blue button appears below the email address you just entered. If the email address is valid, the setup page will appear.
- If the email address is unavailable, you need to select a different one.

Enter your name. Click the "Your Name" field near the top of the page, and type in the name you want others to see when you send emails from this address.

Click on Finish (Complete) at the bottom of the page. This will add your second email address to the account.
- You can choose your alias email address in the "From" field when composing a new email by clicking on the current name and selecting a different alias from the displayed list.
Create multiple Gmail accounts

Access https://www.gmail.com via your browser. Open your browser and navigate to the full version of Gmail at https://www.gmail.com. Log in with your account (if you have one).

Click on your profile picture and select Add account (Add Account). Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select "Add account" from the options list.
- Skip this step if you don't have a Gmail account yet.

Click on More options (Other Options) and select Create account (Create Account). This option is located below the login page. You will be redirected to the account creation page.

Enter your full name. You will need to fill in your first and last name in the fields at the top of the page for your email account.

Select your email address. In the "Choose your username" field, enter the username you want to use for your email address. This is the part before "@gmail.com".
- If the username you select is unavailable, you will need to choose another one.

Choose a password and enter it twice. You need to select a password for this email address and input it into the two password fields.
- Both passwords must match before you can proceed.

Select your birthdate and gender. Click on the "Month" selection box to choose your birth month, then fill in the day and year in the adjacent fields.

Pick your gender. Click the "I am..." drop-down menu and select your option.
- You may choose "Other" or "Rather not say" if you prefer not to disclose this information, but one of these options is required to create the account.

Click on Next Step (Next Step). This blue button at the bottom of the page will bring up the Privacy and Terms agreement window.

Scroll down and click on I agree (I agree). This action accepts Google's Privacy and Terms agreement and creates your account.

Click on Continue (Continue). This is the blue button located at the center of the page.

Repeat this process to create more email accounts. Click on your profile picture at the top-right corner and select "Add Account" to create and link additional accounts.
- Once linked, you can click on your profile picture again and select any of your accounts to instantly switch between them.
Create multiple Outlook accounts

Visit https://www.outlook.com in your web browser. Open your browser and navigate to the Outlook website. This will direct you to the login page.

Click on Create account (Create account). This option is located in the top-right corner of the page.

Enter your full name. Type your first name in the "First name" field and your last name in the "Last name" field.

Choose your preferred username. This will be entered in the "User name" field. The username you choose here will become part of the email address others will see.
- For example, if you want your email address to be "[email protected]", enter whalesaregreat in this field.
- If the "User name" field turns red when you move to the next step, it means someone else has already taken this name, and you'll need to pick a different one to proceed.

Create a password. Enter your password in the "Password" field and re-enter it in the "Re-enter password" field. Both passwords must match.
- Your Outlook password must be at least 8 characters long, and include letters, numbers, or special characters (like a period).

Select your country. Click on the "Country/region" dropdown and choose the country where you currently reside.

Add your birthdate. In the "Birthdate" section, select the month, day, and year of your birth from the dropdown menus.

Select your gender. Click on the "Gender" dropdown and choose Male, Female, or Not specified as your option.

Enter your phone number. Provide your phone number in the "Phone number" field.
- This step is optional, but it can be useful for account recovery if you forget or lose your login password.

Add a secondary email address. If you have another email address, enter it in the "Alternate email address" field.
- This step is also optional.

Enter the verification code. Type the code into the "Enter the characters you see" field. The code will appear above the input field.
- The code usually consists of uppercase letters and numbers.

Click on Create account (Create account). This blue button is at the bottom of the page. After entering all the information, Outlook will create your account and direct you to the inbox setup page.
- Uncheck the box "Send me promotional offers from Microsoft" if you do not want to receive promotional emails from Microsoft.
Create multiple Yahoo accounts

Go to the https://mail.yahoo.com page using your web browser. Open your browser, visit Yahoo Mail, and log in to your Yahoo account.

Click on your profile picture. This option is located at the top right corner of the page, just to the left of the gear icon. A menu will appear immediately.

Click on + Add account (Add account). This option is found below the currently displayed menu. Clicking it will open the Manage Accounts page.

Click on Add account. This blue button is located at the bottom of the menu.

Click on Sign Up (Sign Up).

Enter your first and last name. You need to fill in the two fields at the top of the page labeled "First name" (First name) and "Last name" (Last name).

Enter the email address for the new account you wish to create. The information should be entered into the "Email address" field.

Enter your phone number and birth date. You will need to provide your full phone number, including the country code.

Click on Continue (Continue). This is the blue button at the bottom of the page.

Verify your phone number. Click on the "Text me an Account Key" button to receive a 5-digit code via text message. Enter the Account Key on the Yahoo page and click "Verify" to complete the verification.

Click on Let's get started (Start). This blue button in the center of the page signifies that your new account is now activated and connected to your existing Yahoo Mail account.

Repeat the process to create more email accounts. Click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select "Add Account" to create and link additional accounts.
- After adding the linked accounts, you can click on your profile picture in the top-right corner and select any of your accounts to switch to it immediately.
