Google+ offers unique features, and for some, it serves as an excellent alternative to Facebook. However, for others, it is just another social media platform that requires upkeep. Closing a Google+ account is relatively straightforward, but there are a few things you should know beforehand. This article will explain how to safely and quickly deactivate your Google+ account on a computer or mobile device.
Steps
Remove Google+ from Your Browser

Log in to Google+. If you haven't already, do so using your account username and password.

Access your account settings. Click on your name or profile picture located at the top-right corner of the Google+ window. From the pop-up menu, select "Account."

Click on the Data Tools section at the top.

In the Data Tools box, click on the button labeled Delete Google+ profile and features.

Carefully read the warnings that appear. If you delete your Google profile, you will also remove Google+ along with other associated services and their data linked to your Google profile.

Complete the process. Check the "Required" box to confirm that you have read the warning and are ready to proceed, then click "Remove selected services." This will delete your Google+ account or Google profile, whichever you have chosen.
Remove Google+ from Your Mobile Device

Launch the Google+ app. If it’s not on your home screen, you can locate it by swiping to the right and accessing the Search window. Type "Google+" into the search bar, then tap on the result.
- Note: If you don’t have the Google+ app, refer to Method One to delete your Google+ account and use your mobile device’s browser as you would on a computer.

Tap the Menu button at the top-left corner of the Google+ window. This will open the sidebar.

Tap on Settings. This will open the Settings panel.

Tap on "Delete Google+ profile." If you’re logged in, it will redirect your browser to a page where you can complete the process as described in Method One.
- Otherwise, you’ll be prompted to log in to proceed.

Log in. Then, enter the URL "plus.google.com/downgrade" into the address bar. This will take you to the Google+ account deletion page, where you can proceed to exit your account as described in Method One.
Tips
- While you cannot recover data after deleting your Google+ account, your email will remain intact, and you can create a new Google+ account at any time.
Warnings
- There is no way to recover a deleted account. Ensure you have backed up important data before proceeding.
- Unless it is your intention, be careful not to delete your Google account. While deleting a Google account also deletes Google+, it will permanently remove your Gmail login, and you won’t be able to reuse it in the future.
