With these simple instructions, you can create a wrap skirt that fits your body measurements. Of course, you’ll need to do a bit of calculation, but aside from that, all you need to do is draw a few straight lines on newspaper to create your pattern later on.
Steps
Take your body measurements.
Calculate A, B, C.(91cm) and the length Y = 30
Draw a trapezoid on a piece of paper with the dimensions matching A, B, and C.
Use the paper pattern to cut out 3 trapezoidal fabric pieces.
Sew the fabric pieces together at the two navy blue seam lines shown in the image below.
Finish the waistband, bottom hem, and the two skirt sides as desired. Attach a button and sew a buttonhole on the skirt at the red-dotted locations shown above. The dot on the left represents the hole, and the dot in the middle is where the button should be sewn. You should sew the button on the inside of the skirt.
Sew the two tie straps as shown by the wavy green line in the image above.
Then wrap the skirt around you, fasten the button, tie the straps, and you now have your own wrap skirt!
Advice
- You can also finish the hem of the skirt after wrapping it around your body. This way, you can adjust the skirt to fit your shape.
- This skirt can be designed in any way depending on your sewing method. The skirt can be worn to the office, for the beach, or just for a casual stroll. Also, if you're feeling bored and have nothing to do, designing and sewing a short skirt could be a great idea.
