In this article, Mytour will guide you on how to download all files from your Google Drive to your PC or Mac. You can either download directly from the Google Drive website, sync Google Drive to your computer using the Backup and Sync tool from Google, or download all your data as a Google archive file. If you have more than 5GB of data in Google Drive, it is recommended to sync your account with your computer using Google's free Backup and Sync program.
Steps
Using Google Drive

Open Google Drive. Visit https://drive.google.com/ through your browser on your computer. If you are already logged into your Google account, your Google Drive page will appear.
- If you are not logged in: click on Go to Google Drive when prompted, then enter your email address and password.

Click on a file or folder in your Drive window to select it.

Select all items in Google Drive using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A (Windows) or ⌘ Command+A (Mac). All items on the main Drive page will turn blue.

Click on the ⋮ button located at the top-right corner of the page. A dropdown menu will appear.

Click on the Download option. This choice is found in the dropdown menu. Google Drive files will begin downloading to your computer.
- Google Drive will compress the files into a ZIP folder.

Wait for the Google Drive content to finish downloading. Once done, you can unzip the files to view them.
Use the Backup and Sync program

Go to the Backup and Sync page at https://www.google.com/drive/download/ using your browser on your computer. This program allows you to sync files between your computer and your Google Drive account. Once synced, you can download the entire content of your Google Drive to your computer.
- The main benefit of this method is that any changes made in Google Drive will be automatically updated in the Backup and Sync program on your computer.

Click on the Download button. It is the green button located under the "Personal" section on the left side of the page.

Click on the Agree and download option when prompted. The Backup and Sync setup file will begin downloading to your computer.

Install Backup and Sync. After the setup file finishes downloading, depending on your operating system, you will follow one of two procedures:
- Windows installation – Double-click on the setup file, click Yes when prompted, and press Close when installation is complete.
- Mac installation – Double-click the setup file, confirm installation when prompted, drag the Backup and Sync icon into the "Applications" folder shortcut, and wait for the file to finish downloading.

Wait for the Backup and Sync login page to appear. After the program automatically installs, it will open a page for you to sign in to your Google account.
- You may need to click on GET STARTED before continuing.

Log in to your Google Account. Enter the email address and password for the Google account associated with the Google Drive content you want to download.

Choose the folders on your computer that you wish to sync, if necessary. Select the box next to any folder you want to upload to Google Drive.
- If you do not wish to upload anything, uncheck all boxes on this page.

Click on the NEXT button. This button is located at the lower-right corner of the window.

Click on the GOT IT button when prompted. The Download page will open, where you can select Google Drive files to download to your computer.

Select "Sync everything in My Drive" (Sync everything in My Drive). This option is found at the top of the window. Once selected, all content from Google Drive will begin downloading to your computer.

Click START (Start). This blue button is located in the top right corner of the window. Your Google Drive content will start downloading to your computer.
- Be patient: The synchronization may take some time depending on the size of your Google Drive files.
- Once finished, you can view your files in the "Google Drive" folder on your computer by clicking the Backup and Sync icon, then selecting the folder icon at the top-right of the menu.
Download archive files from Google

Open your Google Account page. Go to https://myaccount.google.com/ in your web browser. If you're signed in, the Account Settings page for your Google Account will open.
- If you're not signed in, click the blue Sign in button at the top-right of the page, enter your email and password, then continue.

Click on Control your content (Manage your content). This option is located under the "Personal info and privacy" section.
- You may need to scroll a little to find this option.

Click CREATE ARCHIVE. This button is located at the bottom of the page. Google Drive will begin creating a ZIP archive containing all the contents of your Drive.

Wait for the archive file to be prepared. Typically, it takes a few minutes for Google Drive to compile the archive. Therefore, do not close the page until the DOWNLOAD button appears.
- Google will also send you a download link via email. This allows you to download the archive even if the page is closed by accessing your email and clicking the Download archive link.

Click DOWNLOAD. This green button is located to the right of your archive file name, right in the center of the page.

Enter your Google account password. When prompted, type the password you use to log into your Google account in order to allow the archive to download to your computer.

Wait for the Google Drive content to finish downloading. Once the download is complete, you can extract the files and access them.
Tips
- Consider connecting your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable while downloading content from Google Drive to speed up the process.
Warning
- A free Google Drive account can hold up to 15GB of data, so it may take hours to finish downloading.
